analyse intersection and move components to avoid intersection

Hi everybody..I need your help...I randomly set up a bunch of beams...now I would like to analyse there intersection and try to avoid intersection while moving the beams that much that they will just contact each other...has anyone an idea how to do that?..thanks

i'm actually trying to do somehthing i think is a bit easier, trying to fit interpolated pipes with different diameteres to only touch and not intersect.

as my breps are flexible i think it's quite possible.

i attempted a first very rough go at this with finding the open space definition adam posted in regards to finding open space in a city. have a look at it.

although i really think it's not the way to go
