No. And no.

 

Grasshopper requires the functionality in the Rhino core product, so Rhino needs to be running for Grasshopper to do its thing. You can only have one instance of Grasshopper running per one instance of Rhino. However, you can have multiple Rhinos running each one with it's own Grasshopper.
