How to identify the direction of folds to construct a panelized surface?

I'm trying to figure out a way to show which way I need to fold a single strip of paper in order to make the shape in the attached file. I am currently using two different rhino scripts: one to make the panelized bands, and another that includes laying those bands out flat.

I'm not familiar with rhino scripts other than just using those two and I'd like to be able to incorporate some form of a grasshopper definition for marking these folds.

Can anyone tell me if this might work? I'm still a beginner and not too sure where to start on some of this. Thanks!

I think you should go for a solid line for one and a dotted line for the other. You can use the Dash Pattern Component Curves>Division>Dash Pattern to get the dotted line. You can even created patterns of dashes and dots by supplying lengths of line/gap/line combinations

That sounds good! Thank you!

I'll have to make sure the solid one won't cut all the way through on the laser.

Since the pattern isn't a "one up, one down" fold, is there a way from the geometry to analyze that and apply the solid or dash to the respective even it it's "one up, two down, two up..." etc?
