Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All,

This may be a long shot, but has anyone already written a polynomial regression (degree >= 3) function or component?  I haven't tried to do matrix algebra in vb before, so this may take me a while....

Thanks,

Jon

maybe Mantis + Mathematica could help with this? http://www.grasshopper3d.com/profiles/blogs/mantis-grasshoppermathe... I haven't tried it myself, so I don't actually know how much control over mathematica it gives you access to.

Mantis only has connection with the CA and poliedra modules in Mathematica, Zag is working on accessing the maths solver but I don't think is ready yet.

Cheers

Thanks for the info, guys.  I wrote a work-around that serves my purposes, using recursive adjustments to "fit" a control curve to a set of data points.  (The loop runs until the curve (nearly) hits all the points, so it's not a good solution if you actually want a trend curve for noisy data.)

Anyway, Mantis looks cool... access to the Mathematica solver would be amazing.

Best,

Jon

Hey Jon,

Just wondering if you have had any further progress with a solution?

Thanks,

Adam
