Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am working on a defintion whereby I wrap a series of stripes onto a sphere.

I being by trying to replicate this video.

https://vimeo.com/27880505

The first images shows my attempt so far but I'm finding it difficult to control the curvature, If I can acheieve something similar to the linked video I'd like to populate the spheres surface with points and pull the mesh stripe to the surface like in the second image (I used tSplines tsPull)

I'm not even sure if this is a good way to go about achieve this result but I'd prefer the 'random, uncontrollable' aspect of GH over manually in tSplines or Maya.

Or even using a path on surface.

I'd appreciate any advice or help!

I converted your definition to work with Kangaroo2.

It lets you drag points around manually.

I'm not sure I follow your aim with wrapping onto a sphere though. If the strips are straight then they will form geodesics when on a sphere, and you could also generate these more directly without simulation.
