Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello!

i was following this tutorial, pretty interesting, link , but i was wondering how to rotate each ramp by a variable number of degrees, still keeping it one continuous element.

here the stair is linear.

also, in the tutorial it talks about nosing, but in the traditional version
how can i obtain something different like this?

thanx

Well I have about 15 defs that do stairs from entry level up to very complex (using Instance Definitions pretty much for every "part") but the bad news are ... the code part.

Thus the attached can only serve as a demo to you.

That said building regulations is a paramount factor (they vary according country).

In general and if the star body is mono-block (say: concrete) ... I would strongly suggest to use real-life "objects" as parts and orient them properly (steps. handrails et all). If the stair is an assembly this is utterly paramount.

But if you work with some feature driven BIM app (Revit, AECOSim etc) there's some automation available (100% useless in 1:1 detailed studies).

thanks for the reply, but i don't really get your point.

yes, your definition contains the type of stair that i should achieve.

still i cant use it, and cant rotate it after the landing.

also it would be nice to set a walkline somewhere, to give the stair the track to follow

This was a very entry level definition. What you mean by "rotate" ? Rotate the Brep or create a circular/elliptical stair? (or ramp).

BTW: What point you can't get? Maybe the "parts" and BIM? If so ... this, for instance, is a fully parametric stair that consists from solids (as "parts"/components in assemblies) - but is not made with Rhino/GH. Solids are accompanied by meta-data (BIM style) related with materials et all.

Anyway I'll try to oversimplify a case that does a simple stair following any (valid) curve and I'll post it soon.
