Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I couldn't find this anywhere, so here goes:

I set my Locked Rhino objects to be ~80% transparent.  If a previewed GH object passes through the locked Rhino object, it is not visible, as though the RH object was still opaque.  It would be great to be see the internal GH objects.

I'd like to add this to the wishlist.

Unfortunately this is not a mistake, or an option we switched off. All the objects in the Rhino document are drawn before any Grasshopper geometry is drawn. Even stuff that is transparent will have set the z-buffer and will prevent anything else from being drawn behind it.

In order to make this work better, Grasshopper preview geometry would need to be included in the back-to-front sort Rhino performs on every redraw and that's not possible at the moment, because Grasshopper preview geometry is not stored in one central place.

We can try and be smarter about this the next time we design a preview system, but I doubt we'll ever be able to make transparent layering work the way it works in real life.
