Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everybody,

first of all: this will be my first thread here, so please be tolerant.

I have a freeform on which i want to project same sized hexagonal planar surfaces. One important condition is, that one edge of a hexagon have to be on the same position as the edge of the next hexagon. If so, the distance between those points on the curve have to be every time different depending on the curvature between those two center points of the hexagons.

My question now is how to get the center point of each hexagon on the curve AND meet with the next hexagon on those edges.

Maybe there is a Galapagos Loop or something or Phython Script or a bit easier way?

Big Thanks!

Greetings,

Hendrik

Hi,

Any idea how to do that with the hexagons parallel to the curve ?

I try tu use your script but it's seem complicated to achieve that with it...

Thank !

Hi Alex,

what exactly do you want to do,

dou you have a GH File for me?

Greetings,

Hendrik

Thank for respondig so fast !

Actually I want hexagone pattern to folow a curve direction, but not in a perpendicular way you achieve before. I need the hexagone to be parallel to the curve.

I've tried to use your script but it don't seem to be the proper way to achieve what I need...

What do you mean with paralell to the curve.

Should the curve be linear or curved? And with paralell you mean the tangent planes of each hexagon should be paralell to the tangent plane of the middel point of the hexagon on the curve?

Linear or curved, the plan need to be the same for the hexagons and the curve.

Like a hexagonal grid, but were the hexagone are placed by the curves vector.

I make a drawing of what I need to achieve... kinda hard to explain it with text sorry :(

Ah okay, so only in 2D Space.

I will try to figure it out, but it seems to be a bit more complicated as i tought it is.

May you try this :)

Oh thanks god it work !

My team and I say thank you from the very bottom of our heart !

You are saving us !

No Problem. :)

Good luck with it!

Hendrik
