Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am kind of new on GH and I am trying to transform a set of pipes into corrugated pipes and I have no idea how to do it.

Can anyone guide me thru the process, please?

Thank you so much.

Hi Alberto,

that's an incredible amount of geometry that Rhino is not particularly good at. What do you need these ridges for? If it's just a visual thing, then the best way forwards is to use textures and bump- or displacement maps.

If you really need the geometry to be wave, then it may not work fast enough on large amounts of pipes.

Here's how to make a loft using circles with alternating radii:

Thank you so much.

I considered the bump texture already but I'm not that keen to achieve a sharp texture and its a small object. Hopefully It wont give to much trouble.

BTW, is there a library of "group of components" like what you just post? Thanks!

I just made that from scratch. There may well be ready-made files and clusters out there, but the chances are they won't do what you're after anyway, at least not exactly.

David were right!
This monster weight a lot!

I've done it just as a joke :P
(enable internalized curve, and... wait...)

Hi all,

Apologies for reviving this topic. I found it when I was looking to make a corrugated pipe based on a helix. Not that at a distance the difference would be noticeable, but for learning purposes it is worth the exercise. Please note that this pipe would be curved along its length. Any thoughts?
