How to create in grasshopper similar complex dynamic data driven visualizations like this example in flash?

huge amount of data needed at first ;]

The creation of the graphs should be possible (you should have a list of connections, each node will be placed around a circle, and you create a bi-arc between the two (possibly with the tangents in the centre of the circle). You can even tweak it a bit if you want to add the nodes.

As mateusz suggests: the dataset will be a bit tricky to import: and also is the interactivity quite a problem. But I can imagine that you can filter out certain lists with a cull list item or something?

i think you should start with making a database in open office calc, you can easily import all the data with gHowl components.if you would like to make smth like map your moves, you'll need : city name, azimuth (from base point - in this case its new york), distance, population etc. see attached files for example..

thanks for the sharing.

Attached a very simple curve type solution. You get intersecting curves this way, you may need to add some sort of bezier scaling factor to avoid that.

With some form of scaling added:
