Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear Group,
I am trying to convert a quad mesh into a Nurb using the Grasshopper tool Surface from Points. It works perfectly but I cant change the degree of the surface created. By default, it put it at degree 3.
The Nurb surface doesnt match exactly the control point and as we are doing reverse engineering, it is important that the nurbs is as close as possible to my mesh. I usually use degree 1 so that I match exactly my mesh and can then enjoy all surface tools from Rhino.
Thanks for your help and suggestions

SamuElf,

Did you ever find a solution to your question of converting quad mesh into Nurbs and having the ability to control the degree? If so I'd really appreciate knowing this process start to finish. I'm new to the world of generative modeling and working with mesh. I've primarily worked in CAD programs using nurbs. My CAD programs can not do much with mesh data, hence my common desire to convert mesh to nurbs.
Hi Vincent,
So far, I didn't manage to change the degree but you can easily convert a quad mesh into a nurbs with a common grasshopper tool (surface from point).
You need to input the mesh into a mesh analysis box and output the list of point. You input these point into surface from point with the right amount of points in U direction. So far, I don't have any automatic tool counting for me the amount of point in U but you can easily figure out the amount.
Look at this definition and let me know if it works for you. Let me know if you find a way to improve it. Enjoy
Cheers.
BTW: don't stay too long in the spinning whirlpool, you'll get disy! (funny hein?!)
