Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi

is there a cycle operator in GH? Another words. I need to create a number of circles drawn one by another tangented to previous ones.  And I also need this cycle to be repeated on defined curve segment only.

Here are some pics

Is there any way of doing that correctly? thx

How do jewelers add the gems when the prongs overlap them? Do they just bend them outwards a bit and also carve notches in them before bending them back? Or does the metal get mashed into the stones to make notches? I haven't found any good YouTube videos about this.

Quite a script! It is elegant how you can just design a 3D object and then apply two curves to a portion of it in 3D space, to get the stones.

Thank you, Nik. I'm just trying to make life easier. Frankly it's not that good side of that ring :) Normally the gems are not so big in this setting. I tested the algorithm to find some narrows and it needs to be fixed. Have some good ideas :)

Here I attached a vieo of how to place the gems even in stainless steel. Better than thousand words.

That is a STUNNING piece of work!  Brilliant and beautiful.  An inspiring approach to CAD that applies to other fields, like ports (marine windows) on curved surfaces...  Thank you for sharing.
