Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

for a study project, i like to transform infrastructure into a building.

I found an example, which looks really interesting.

Now i'm not sure which plug-in is useful? Should i use t-splines?
Or dose anyone have a better idea? Would be great if it's working in Grasshopper, so i can easily change the design. And dose someone has maybe a related grasshopper script, or a good link. :D

Thank you, and please forgive my bad English.

Well... I have bad, bad and bad news:

Doing this with a surface modeller like Rhino it could hit the wall quire easily: the moment that you arrive into a polysurface > the end, adios Amigos.

Theoretically you could try to use meshes, Starling/WB,  mesh relaxation "plug-ins" (and/or Kangaroo in some "portions" of that thing) and/or "plug-in" apps the likes of Evolute Tools Pro (that said I dislike meshes like hell) but you'll face other kind of issues at later stages (if this is supposedly destined to be some "building"). On the other hand effectively mastering panelization (if this is supposedly destined to be some "building") on this ... only Evolute Tools could cut the mustard.

Try to use T-Splines (but going from some Academic/Abstract approach/phase to some Real Life one it could be quite challenging:  meaning achieving something realistic for AEC purposes, that is - not that simple, he he). Obviously converting something back to Rhino means a polysurface: the end, Adios Amigos.

Tip: this requires a careful mix of "parametric" and "static" (Evolute) methods.

Tip: If you are novice to GH/Evolute/... (and scripting) I would strongly suggest to avoid that kind of stuff.

best, Peter
