algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear all,

I need to panelize some architecture facade.

I have already tried Evolute and Rhino Paneling Tools.

But I want to learn general information about way to paneling.

Is there any general guide to paneling?

I tried to find books or article in internet,

there are some papers but neither for architect nor general introduce.

does some have ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Hi KWON,
What do you exactly need to do with paneling? Are you a designer?

Dear Ms.Issa,

I am working at engineering office in parametric part.

For one new project I must panelize a huge area, which has a size of small park.

I am not allowed to show the geometry of this project to other person.

But I can tell you,

1. the whole geometry consists of many single surfaces.

2. It has convex and concave parts and curved freely and all are double curvature.

3. the curvature varies quite much from smooth to radical.

4. There are some large holes. (some of them are trimmed in one single surfaces, some of them are made of edges with more than two surfaces.)

For this geometry there are some draft patterns to apply and to test.

The decision, how we can fabricate the panels is still open.

We are discussing, Cold bending, Milling or Planar Quad with controlled derivation.

I want to know, where we can start for this complex situation and maybe how.

or I need a basic knowledge to decide, whether we can do this task our current men powers or not. (or how far we can do with current men forces)

Can you give me some advice?

It is pretty stressful. :(

Thank you so much!

best regard.

Hi Kown,

Unfortunately it is hard to give advise about how you might panel specific form with specific pattern without seeing the project.

Such projects usually require collaboration from structural engineers and manufacturers along with the designer. There is usually no straight forward answer and the cost will depend on material, surface design and paneling design.

You may want to start with concepts about the paneling layout and the general distribution, discuss implementation details with the engineering team, and possibly go through cycles of redesign to meet requirements such as structural, cost, etc.

there is a nice reference of case studies of projects that deal with unconventional forms and design processes that you might want to check:

Good luck

Thank you for some guides.

Can I have one of your mail adresses?

I will ask my boss, if I can send you some screenshots for practical advices.

If availabe, please send me a message or just as comment.

I would send you then some pictures and the Points, where we have difficulties.

regards.

You can forward any question to my McNeel email. rajaa @ mcneel . com
