Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am interested in developing a set of components to deal with WallPaper symmetry groups; Has anyone done this or something similar?

I have been using grasshopper for some time now and have some programming experience, but I am not exactly sure of the best way to go about developing a definition or component to achieve each of the plane symmetries. Can anyone point me in a direction I should proceed to make this happen. I was thinking about using paneling tools as a start? Any strategies thoughts, or interest Welcome!

I feel like command over the 17 possible plane symmetries could be vital for the grasshopper community; very rarely do I see more than the first couple of simple symmetries employed when tiling or paneling a surface.

Thanks!

Hi, I agree with what you say here. I made a start on coding the different groups in Grasshopper, but I have to admit my efforts were a little clumsy, but I would be happy to share if it is of interest. I love the Alhambra and make ceramic tiles when I am not trying to get to grips with grasshopper. Are you familiar with the work of Craig Kaplan?
