Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

i'm trying to split a surface with a projected curve, but split surface give to me this error.

I've tried closing the poliline, cutting it, doing the intersection betwen surface and curve, to do a new surface patching the curve...

i want to draw wooden slats along the surface, it's already solved, the only i need it is the cutted surface,

please could anyone help me?

thank you,

Hello Graffesia,

If I am not mistaken, what you have set as a surface is actually a mesh (if you let your mouse over the surf container you will see "invalid surface").

Hello Graffesia

Something went wrong when creating the initial surface. I suspect that weird edge as seen in the following picture, but cant be sure since it is referenced, internalized and cannot be baked when invalid.

So the split surface component does not work. One workaround, if fixing the initial surface is not possible, could be the following

Getting the edges from the invalid surface and using patch surface with these settings you can get a very good approximation of the initial surface, that is valid and you can continue working. I disabled the rest of the definition because it froze grasshopper. (Maybe some data matching issue along the way).

Cheers

Alex

Thank you very much you two,

ng5 Alex you're right, in the "weird edge" was the problem so that was why I had an invalid surface. Thanks for the alternative solution.
