Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I'm not sure if "helical mesh" is the right name for the shape i want, but didn't know what else to call it. See attached jpeg.

I am able to create this along a straight line, but i have to cheat.  I create only one of the ribs and rotate it around the center.  But i would like to be able to do this along a curve, like in the example file.  I know this means some how ordering the points somehow, but my understanding of tree and branch manipulation only goes so far.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
matei

Hi Matei,

this is often called "diagrid" (or diagonal grid).
You can have a look at some definitions:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/diagonal-grid-without-1
http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/irregular-diagrid
http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/diagrid-definition

I hope this is helpful,

It looks like a diagrid, but the curves are continuous, as opposed to being discreet at every panel.
