Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I was wondering about possibly exporting a gh definition as a dll.....

By default this dll would:

  1. expose the sliders as inputs
  2. package all the components up somehow
  3. expose a user defined output (maybe mesh only?)
  4. Run in the .NET environment as along all the other relevant dependencies were included.

This functionality could be restricted to the more straightforward components (Math, primitive geometries, etc...).

The Firefly components do something similar, but it seems that Andy had to write a translation library. Would be great to somehow just leverage Open Nurbs and GH....

It's bit far fetched, I know, but it would be amazing.

You'd still need references to Grasshopper.dll, GH_IO.dll, GH_Util.dll and RhinoCommon.dll, plus RhinoCommon.dll only works when it's started from within a running instance of Rhino.

There's just not much to be gained here when all of the above is accomplished.
