Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello, it's been a few day that i'm desperatly looking for a way to represent on a urban map some path.

I have differents starting point and i need to represent all the differents itinerary in a certain distance. For example i need to know all the area that is less than 400 meters from this point.

If i draw a circle, i will have the distance as the craw flies and I need to have the walkable distance.

I already have a single surface for all the roads.

PLEASE, if you have any idea, or reference fo someone else that have already done this kind of analyse, SHARE !

Hope i was clear enough,

Thanks a lot

Hi Tiffany,

You might want to experiment with the shortest walk: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/new-shortestwalk-for

and you can download it at:    http://www.food4rhino.com/project/shortestwalkgh

Sorry can't help more without seeing the actual file.

Good luck

Regards,

Omar Helmy

Thank you, I've already tried this plugin but the problem is that in my file, the streets are nor represented by a single line but it it a void between the different built part.

Thank you

Can't really comment without seeing the actual drawing, but if you can have the paths represented by lines, the Shortest-path would definitely do the trick.

Hallo Tiffany,

You might want to have a look at:

http://www.gbl.tuwien.ac.at/_docs/GrasshopperScriptum/GrasshopperSc...

The Urban distance Map might be of interest. However you might have to ataped your representation so that it works with the plugins...

the problem is that i did not succeed to install elk so I can't make the plugin work.

Here is the whole map and a zoom with a set of point, and i have 3 other sets to work on.

well there are different methods, one is to draw it by hand

the second is to make an all line map -> there should be an algorithm out there. (look in the Space syntax community...)

ELK will not solve the problem, maps there have to be adapted as well, some things are simply quicker doing them by hand.

i am doing it by hand righ now and it's a pain, but its for tomorrow so i have no time anymore to find a better solution !
