Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm using the Grasshopper curve component to hold a collection of different curves generated in Rhino. I'd really like to be able to separate the list into groups of lines, curves, polylines, closed curves etc so that I can then divide them into an appropriate number of points.

I've tried using the dispatch component but I'm finding it difficult to work out what my true and false values are actually doing. The closed component is useful but i need to be able to separate the curves into more than just open and closed and periodic or not.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

(i'm a complete grasshopper novice if you couldn't tell)

Cheers

Hello

you can try the following

from these various curves types you can select one type and then sort each type if it is a closed curve, or not.

Hi Alex,

Thanks a lot for the swift reply! it's a really nice solution although I think for my needs Damon's script below is perfect.

Hi, Barney.

Attached is a VB scripted component that should do what you want. If there are other types that you'd like to test for, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Best,

Damon
