Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi David,

there a some GHA wich are related to Rhino Plug-Ins. I disabled them in the Rhino Plug-In-Manager. Now of course I am getting an error message, when starting GH.

Is it possible to have something like a GHA-Component-Manager, where you could tell GH which GHA-Files to load automatically and which not?

Thanks,

Phillip

Is there ever actually a case where you would want to disable GHAs? Or do you just want to get rid of the error message? If the latter, wouldn't it make more sense to have a mechanism to disable error messages for specific GHA files?

I want to disable the gha because it is connected to the rhino plugin (we are talking about GeoGym).

The Rhino plugin is usually disabled, because rhino will start much quicker without it and I hardly need it.

Disadvantage: GH needs a while to start now, if its enabled to load the profil-library ,if disabled to create the error message that it cant load the library.

So I guess disabling the message wont help much. Thats why I was asking for a manual load option.

May be It could also be connected to the Rhino Plug-In-Manager?

I can certainly add a UI similar to those of custom layouts (see the popup menu if you right click over the ribbon tabs). This would allow you to enable/disable any GHA file while Grasshopper is running. I cannot actually unload a GHA (once it's loaded is remains loaded until Rhino is shut down), but I can certainly hide the components associated with that GHA and not load it on startup the next time you run Grasshopper.

One of the bigger problems I think will be that you won't be able to open ghx files unless you have the GHA loaded, which could be very annoying and it's very difficult for me to figure out which GHA is required without fully loading it.

ok. i got it. for sure its better to wait for loading than manually find out the missing parts and trial and error for opening gh-files.

thought it be easier since the event log gives you information about needed components.

anyhow, by testing some different configurations i found out, in my case only rh5 causes these long starting periods. aparently its not a problem in rh4.

so hopefully this might be not an issue sooner or later depending on rh5.

thanks!
