Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I am using the newest version 08.0052 and my ctrl+z command does not work, when I do it it undoes rhino operations but not grasshopper ones. I also noticed in the grasshopper edit menu clicking undo works but there is no ctrl+Z shortcut labeled next to it. is this just me?

Hi Michael,

this bug appeared also in older versions, but in the last 6 releases I didn't recognized it myself.

Normaly restarting Grasshopper and Rhino works.

Best,

Martin.

There's also been people who've had problems with the Delete shortcut. It's all very puzzling. Sounds like I need to add some validation code to the shortcut logic so I can find out where it's going wrong.

Is this possibly to do with the recent shortcut overhaul you undertook?

As there is no assignment of Ctrl+Z next to Undo.

v0.8.0052

EDIT: I just checked and its the same with the newer grasshopper.dll you posted for me. And you can manually add it as ctrl+Z and it remains there after closing and re-opening.

Could be, but I have my doubts. The Ctrl+Z shortcut seems to be there by default. If I erase the grasshopper_menushortcuts.xml file in the Settings folder, then start Rhino again I get the Ctrl+Z for the Undo item (do you see the same?).

It is of course possible to manually erase the shortcut using the new UI, in which case there should be no "Ctrl+Z" visible on the menu (as per your image).

I see the same behaviour as you. I wonder if I inadvertently removed it? But I also noticed it last night at home which made me question when seeing Michael's post.

I only tried it with v0.8.0053

There could well be bugs in the new custom shortcut code. In fact, past experience makes me think there probably are bugs in the custom shortcut code.

There probably isn't a bug in the interaction between custom shortcuts and key-press handlers, because those two pieces of code never actually interact.

I need to add extra code anyway to try and find the Delete key problem reported by Arthur, let's hope it will shed some light on this as well.

I've experienced such behaviour regularly since the 0.6+ versions. Also commands like copy/paste/delete only effect rhino after a certain while. I've not been able to pinpoint when this starts to occur.

I was just figuring: can it be something related to scripting panels? (they also have these focus shifts and stuff).

I believe this is different to the "Arthur Mani" Syndrome, as I like to call it :). Which I have suffered on rare occasions, usually on very large projects.

With that you loose all at the same time, mine was specifically undo.

hahah !

Yes I still can't figure out what's the pattern of this "syndrome"...

It happens on small and large definitions just randomly and sometimes disappears after a while and/or comes back.

Sorry not to be more helpful but I noticed students having the same problem so it must be more than my weird computer :)

Many thanks.

Same problem over here. Ctrl-Z undos Rhino commands. No shortcut in the menu.

What an annoying bug!!

Hi Edion,

and next to the Grasshopper undo menu it does say "Ctrl+Z"? It's not like the image Danny posted?

Exactly like Danny ones. It doesn't appears and the undoes applies to the rhino commands, not the grasshopper ones.
