Hi,

Can you post or email to me any progress you have made with trying this?

Can you followed the installation instructions here:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/install...

and looked at the example models here:

http://geometrygym.blogspot.com/search/label/SAP2000

right now i hv  created created the model in rhino4 and i want to carry the structural analysis in sap. so my problem is i'm stuck right nw and dont knw how to progress.

Hmm

1. http://www.comp-engineering.com/products/SAP2000/import_export_form...

2. http://www.gtwiki.org/mwiki/index.php?title=Structure_Steel_Transla...

PS: Although STEP is rather OK with regard geometry (tested N times from/to Rhino) the big question is : what about your assembly/component structure(s)? (nested blocks in Rhino speech - if present) On that matter I guess that IFC2*3 could cut the mustard (for instance I never talked to NX/Catia successfully with regard assembly related information via STEP - but basically my work is not based to Rhino).

Can you post a sample/test case/anything here?

Best, Peter

maybe just export it as single line elements? Are you exporting surfaces?

hi  u can export in object extension

hii,

this is our work.
please tell how to dimension the work and how to carryout the Structural analysis.

Hi,

I'm adding some new features to make this a little easier, I should post something later today or tomorrow the latest.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Kaling,

Can you please follow the installation instructions outlined here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/install...

I've attached my progress with SAP generation.  I wanted to mesh the area objects in SAP (nominating the intersection points with diagrid to be meshed), but there's a problem in that SAP v14 (14.2.4 in my case) doesn't acknowledge the group containing meshing points.  Refer attached image.  Not sure if you have access to SAP v15 to test?  I have contacted the SAP help desk, not gotten a response yet.

You can manually assign it, but a pain with so many stories.  Our other option is to mesh in Rhino (which is a second preference).  Let me know what you think.

Cheers,

Jon

Hello guys,

Long time reader but haven't posted anything as of yet.

I am still trying to transfer a rhino/grasshopper model to sap2000 v15. Every time I try to transfer the model, my sap2000 v15 opens but there is no model within sap2000 so I try baking the structure but no result.

Can one of you experienced user please help me out?

Thank you in advance guys!

Hi Ahmed,

Nice to hear from you but sorry for the problem.

When you double click on the ssiBake button for the first time, it should automatically start SAP for you with a new button (if you right click on the ssibake button, there is an option for it to open a model file if you wish to add to an existing).  Does this work?

I've been testing and developing with SAP2000 Ultimate v15.1.0 Can you confirm your version is this or newer?

I'll advise further things to test based on your response.

Cheers,

Jon

SAP2000 V15.0.0

Grasshopper  Build 0.8.0066

Step 1: I start Grasshopper plugin from Rhino V4.

Step 2: I open your “110415 galapagos truss optimizer sap.gh” file.

I get the following message:

REQUEST LICENSE

In order to use Geometry Gym components in Grasshopper, please run Rhino command sdrZZLicenseRequest to request free trial license.

In order to use StructDrawRhino components in Grasshopper, please run Rhino command ssiSAPZZLicenseRequest to request free trial license.

Step 3: I double click ssiBake icon and my SAP2000 V15 opens but there is no model in SAP.

I get the following Rhino command message:

Baking Structure....

SAP model updated via COM.  Axis Count: 0  Node Count: 0 Elem Count: 0 Section Property Count: 0 List Count: 0.

Data not copied to Clipboard for validation by user

Step 4: If I right click on ssiBake icon and select “Open Model in SAP” it asks for a *.sdb file.

Hope you can help. Thanks again.

Ok, so please run the command sdrZZLicenseRequest in the command window (where you type the command grasshopper) and follow prompts.  Is it possible to update SAP to v15.1.0 ?  I think it might help.
