algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi forum!

Didn't know where else to put this question.

Does anybody know how those penrose tiles work that Aranda/Lasch used for their quasitable. Kinda understand the logic between the 2D penrose tile, but how does the 3D - and how does the table work? Was trying to build a 3D penrose and understand the 2D one, but the 3D seems quite complex!

Just out of interest...

Cheers,

Hi aalraz,

I am also trying to manage 3D penrose. could you find a way to do it?

There are 2 ways of joining together 6 golden rhombs (a quadrilateral with diagonals in a ratio of 1 to phi) to make a solid.

These 2 distinct 'golden rhombohedra' can be combined to make an aperiodic packing in 3d.

Thank you for your reply daniel. I hope I will figure it out:)

After spending about half day just trying to figure out how to do any of this manually i have to say that I’m just not getting it. Does anyone know of any "how to’s' on this topic especially for the 3d version? Google gives me many things which I seem not to understand.
