Based on those specs, it would sound like your PC can easily handle both VRay and Maxwell. As tutorial sites go, I would do a google search for vray tutorials, but you can probably find some good ones on www.asgvis.com and www.flyingarchitecture.com

Thank you for replying. I don't have a high end pc so I suppose V-Ray would be soutable for me. My pc specs: AMD Athlon(tm)2 x4 645 3.1GHz; 8Gb RAM; ATI FirePro V4800(Fire GL). Could you recommend some websites providing tutorials for V-Ray? I would be most interested in the architectural applications of the software.

Well there are many different renderers out there for Rhino, but it depends on what you're looking for. The two main renderers I use are V-Ray and Maxwell. V-Ray is a raytracer and very fast under the proper lighting and material conditions, whereas Maxwell is an unbiased rendered (meaning that it physically calculates the lighting conditions of the 3D model and continues to calculate toward the most refined solution until you tell it to stop). I like V-Ray for its pure speed under basic conditions, and with some extra effort, it produces very high-quality renders. Maxwell can be frustratingly slow, but if you have time to kill and really want to showcase some knockout renders, you're better off going with Maxwell or another unbiased engine like Indigo or Octane. Some others to look into are Brazil, Fryrender, KeyShot. Price is also another consideration, as even student licenses can be pretty expensive.

Hi

I have spent some time with Rhino and GH but I also want to lern how to render my models. What advice would you give for an absolute beginner in rendering concerning tutorials, websites, aplications and so on...
