algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I am trying to model a grid shell on karamba. The problem is that once I model in my geometry onto karamba, the beams do no consist of any initial moment, which would be the case as the members are "bent" in order to take the final curved shape.

Does anybody know a way to work around this ?

The best analogy is to compare the model to a Bow which consists of internal energy as it is forced into shape.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Thomas,

in Karamba3d 1.3.0 it is not yet possible to consider the effect of construction sequences.

In case you want to determine the load-bearing capacity of the pre-bent structure you can e.g. calculate the curvature of the individual beams and define materials with reduced strength values. The strength reduction takes account of the bending stress in the pre-bent structure.

It is planned that construction sequences can be assessed using the 'Analysis Nonlinear'-component once it is fully working.

Best,

Clemens

Hi Clemens, picking up on this, have construction sequences been implemented within V2.2 of Karamba3D?

Hi Michael,

construction sequences are not yet part of Karamba3D 2.2.0.
