algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi there,
I'm still quite new to rhino grasshopper and karamba but I have a few questions and I couldnt really find answers on so i figured I post it here.
So I tried to create a concrete (solid rectangular) beam, apply a load on it and analyse the concrete beam. And ran intro the following problems.
1. The concrete beam which has the dimension of 5x1x1 does not seem to be a solid. When I assembled the model I assigned concrete as material which has a specific weight of 25kn/m3 but the mass of my model is 550 kg according to the assemble component. what did I do wrong?
2. I can apply loads only on point generated by the mesh to shell component, are there other ways to apply loads? Also is there a way to number the points and refer to that number? For example my model has 8 points, can I define those points as 1,2,3, etc?

ad 1.) In the above definition the beam is modeled using shell elements which have the default thickness of 1cm. At the moment (karamba3d 1.3.0) volume elements are not included. Is there a specific reason why you do not want to use beam elements?
ad 2.) You could try a 'MeshLoad'-component. Specific indices of nodes can be set by feeding a list of nodes into the 'Pts'-input-plug of the 'Assemble'-component. See the manual for details.

Thank you for the explanation and quick response.
I am working on a concrete facade element and that is why I am using shell elements. I will include pictures and the grasshopper file of the facade element so that you have an idea of what I am trying to accomplish. The facade element is quite slow on my pc so thats why I tried it with a concrete beam first, I figured if I know how to analyse that beam I could apply the same to my facade model.
You said that volume elements are currently not included in karamba, but do you have a suggestion or a workaround for my model? I tried the shell cross section component to give the shell a height but it did not really work.
