From GH to Kuka

does it mean you dont need any postprozessor? saving over 25000 euro?

Great and easy. this will bring much more robotics to the crowd.

I'm doing similar work, check out my album at

I am now at the point where I would like to visualize the removal of material, similar to your video (1:29 to 1:52) but having issues implementing this.

Did you sweep your mill along curves or how did you generate the boundary representing the space of material being removed? I am aware this process needs to be clean otherwise the boolean solid difference with the basic stock won't work right.

Thanks for the hint.

Is anymore information presented on this somewhere?

The Gh file writes directly to an .src (or .tap) file, which is basically human readable NC-code that the KUKA software reads directly. KUKA has its own IK solver, which interprets the world-oriented coordinates I feed it (x,y,z,i,j,k) into positioning of each of the 7 internal axes. This is a handy feature, since my script won't depend on the particular KUKA model in use or on the user-defined origin, both of which may vary from job to job. Since the Gh write-to-file is updated live, I have it set up so that I can make changes to the model, preview the job, estimate the job-time, and start milling, all in about 30 seconds.

Very cool! Thanks for posting this.

Is your milling file sent to the KUKA system software?

What's the workflow?

Can't wait to see the milling footage.
