Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I was designing an interface for managing geometry as curves for the components of Peacock, when I realized that could be a lot cooler to store the definition that generates the geometry, rather than just the geometry. I think this may be of interest to many, not only for Peacock users, so I did it in a separate project.

This may be a continuation of the work of Andrew Heumann, Create Snippets With Grasshopper.

Is the first time I make a form with controls so I launched a public beta for those who want to collaborate. You can find the VS project on GitHub.

@dvdrbls, please install the .NET Framework 4 and tell me if works. I tried to change the project to another framework but there were plenty of errors that I do not know how to solve. So, I hope this serves.

Thanks Daniel I think that makes sense.

And yeah the Graph Mapper is such a bittersweet component - v useful but not parametrically controllable with inputs. I look forward to the new graphing features in Gh 2.0

@David, I was planning to add these features, check the new version (using ctrl to drag tabs).

https://github.com/DanielAbalde/GhBrickBox

New beta release: 0.3.0

Major changes:
- Added ability to drag tabs and bricks for sort them within a box.
- Added ability to drag a tab from one box to another.
- Small overall improvements.

@Brian,

this component is not of Peacock, is independent. Has advantages compared to UserOjbect, it is faster to make, access to the definition directly, not occupy space in the panel components... As everything has pros and cons.
For example this:

which I use very often, not worth making a UserObject because lose to manipulate the graph. Another example would be a profile curve for the skin around of a ring, it is preferable to have the process on hand to handle it with ease, that is, not only its about parameter, but to manipulate the process directly. Or if you need to store 10 geometries, maybe it's better to do it from this box. Is like having many definitions (not only components) in one place.

This is really cool, Daniel, thanks for sharing.

I'd be interested in hearing from everyone why some users prefer to save component snippets with Peacock rather than saving clusters or managing user object sets.

Hey Daniel,

Great work !

Did I overlooked a way to move the tabs up nd down the list to organise them? If not I think it would be a good addition to the functionalities.

Keep it up :)

will test with my own equipment , at work I can not install.

Regards and good end year.

@Rémy, when I can I will launch a version with an earlier version of .NET framework. The current of this comp. is the 4. I'm not sure, but maybe installing this version on the machine will be resolved that problem? Thanks for the warning.

I receveid this error when i load grasshopper:

An error occured during GHA assembly loading:
Path: C:\Users\CHF163\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries\GhBrickBox.gha
―――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――――
The GHA file is either damaged or has been made with
a newer version of .NET than Grasshopper itself.
You can try toggling the "Memory Load" option in the
GrasshopperDeveloperSettings command window, it might help.

Sound like a same error mistake Piotr ?

Best.
