This wasn't entirely done in GH. Long story short the mesh is a smoothed version of the result of a 'meshfrompoints' operation on a very dense point cloud made from dividing the struts which was created in grasshopper (firts part of the animation).

Thinking of it, I believe I used your render animation trigger in grasshopper, Giulio - Thanks. Camera movement is also handled by GH as I do not know how to animate this in Rhino alone.
