I think Vray Proxy Scatter is a very good way of displaying your 3D models. However, it's not easy to use it in a dynamic way. I've tried to make a scene with a lot of objects and a lot of materials. I would recommend this Cisco Meraki MX Series San Franciscofor more useful ideas. The problem is that if you have too many materials on one model and some lights, then the render time will be very long and CPU usage will be very high. This means that the scenes cannot be used for real time rendering applications like Unreal Engine 4.
