Pavilion proposal for World Expo 2015

The theme of the World Expo 2015 is “Feeding the planet. Energy for life” Inspiration for this pavilion was something that brings energy into our life – grain cultures.

From an architectural point of view, the facade represents a continuously changing structure, forming in it’s different parts certain social zones. This graduate differentiation “from function to function” on the one hand, looks like a balanced, visually-holistic composition, and on the other, provides unique spatial possibilities to the visitors, promoting communication.

From a constructive side, the project consists of a metal frame, that acts like a base for a complex system of plywood facade elements. These elements are designed in a such way, that using material properties like flexibility and elasticity, and a system of connections, a desired form of elements is achieved, forming different types of spaces – sunscreen canopy and sunscreen wall for the visitors.

Used Grasshopper+Kangaroo for dynamic relaxation of the facade elements, to get predictable form results of the fabricated parts.
