Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

ALL THE PARTS ORIENTED TO THE XY PLANE. ISN'T GRASSHOPPER GREAT. I JUST WANTED TO TRY THE PROCESS OUT. IT WAS FUN TO ASSEMBLE WITH THE GRAPHIC IT BECAME A 3D PUZZLE.

well there's the rub - I cheated. Using a projection map, I projected a single image onto the geometry. Then I converted each face which recieved that projection to a surface map (often refereed to as baking) which produces a single predistorted image and will perfectly fit to the UV's of a given face or surface. I used Maya for this but it might be able to get done in Rhino or GH, I just didn't know how to bake a projection. Now I applied these baked files as image maps to all of my faces in Rhino and then did my GH work.

Can you explain a little about how you were able to project the graphic on to the panels and then orient with the graphic? I understand how to project onto the surface, as well as isolate the panels and lay them on a sheet. But, just cannot figure out how to do the 2 together.

Would be much appreciated
