sometimes researching brings nice results... these guys did a point cloud optimization with flash... maybe this will help in the mean-time... http://www.flashandmath.com/flashcs4/bunny/index.html

aahh... got the point... didn´t know prezi... looks nice... prezi probably needs an implementation of this to make your dream come true

Ante, because prezi is a ZUI presentation format, I wanted graphics that behave well at all zoom-levels. Bitmaps are pretty much out. It should be possible to compress point-data using standard zip-like compressions, but the real problem is rendering speed. One needs good hard-ware accelerated rendering to handle thousands upon thousands of objects and Prezi (which uses Flash) wasn't up to the task.

hhhmmm... if it isn´t supposed to become a 3d-pdf then why not create something like a bitmap from planarized 3d-data... well anyway... how would one create a point-based storing algotithm similar to jpeg to make the result really small? :o)

Mmmm...this is a really nice add to Illustrator :D

awesome!!!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to lead anywhere anytime soon. I was hoping to use this shading technique in lecture graphics (pdf export), but Prezi.com cannot handle the vast amount of objects.

looking forward to see where this leads...

great work
