Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

A visualization of named colour density in RGB space. Colours processed and culled using Grasshopper VB scripting, iso-surface created using Metaball component and the Rhino MeshFromPoints command. This image was created as part of a blog post, but I ended up not using it (http://ieatbugsforbreakfast.wordpress.com/2011/03/19/colours-everywhere/). Image rendered with Brazil for Rhino.

Vicente, ah, that. No indeed. I made a single material that could be assigned to all objects and it would automatically render them correctly where ever they are. It's also not limited to mesh density this way.

Ah, so you didn't use it. I was refering to this shader:

You created a material in Brazil using the gradient shader in WCS. The alternative i was thinking about is to bake the colors into the mesh vertices inside Grasshopper and then render them with that shader.

Arthur, you kidding me?! It took me half an hour of manual mesh repair to get the metaballs tight and the rendering took 4 hours (yes, 4).

Mårten, I saw it too. It goes away though if you change the camera angle :)

Vicente, yes. I used three World Space gradients (black-red, black-green, black-blue) and superimposed them in a single material. It was actually quite tricky, but it turned out to be possible.

An animation would be amazing!

Does someone else see the cat in the bottom left corner?

Did you use the Brazil shader for rendering mesh vertex colors?

Wondering how it would look if converted to HSL colour space...

Nice stuff :D
