My question is, would anyone know how to create a script to sort these into loops of faces, so that, for instance, the sequence 0,1,4,5,16,17,20,21 could be sorted into an ascending item number of 0 through to 7, and so on and so forth for the rest of the rows or columns in the mesh?

d having the entire surface adjust while maintaining equilateral triangles. The closest solutions I've come across are the equilateralize and shell and plate examples for Kangaroo (images below), but I don't think the definition in the equilateralize demo will work because I don't always want 6 triangles around each vertex (I want a range from 4 to 7.) The shell and plate example seems more promising, but when I open it in rhino/GH it says the C# component is old, and the code is missing. Also, the shapes I'm trying to model are much less spherical than the mesh in the demo, so I'm not sure if that method will work anyway. I'm also posting an image of some physical models that show what I'm going for.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Things I don't understand for a structure like this:
1.How the elements are assembled on the building site ?
2.Do we have to consider that for each hexagonal glass we have only two curvy links that are facing one another ? (if more it connot be assembled !)
3.For the almost flat hexas we make hexa glasses, for the others we have to divide them in 6 triangles... ? triangles glass is very expensive but who cares hehe ...
I'm asking too much but it's just for my personal curiosity, I don't think i'll use this system because it will just make some nice 3ds for my portfolio but I want MODELS (prefer real things not virtual).
For the materiality, I was thinkings about wood surfaces assembled with a mid-wood system... It would be possible if I use a soft wood that accepts deformations...

n floorplate (say, 9 studios, 6 x 1-beds, 7 x 2-beds...).
My input is a text file which contains all possible combinations of unit types, up to a given size (basically, all the possible unit combinations up to a floorplate of 'x' square metres). The idea to save them into a text file was because of the sheer amount of combinations there were (33M), which took three days to compute but hopefully I can now use for a variety of projects (because the unit types don't change generally between projects, just the unit mixes).
Anyway, that's a small tangent. The point is I am reading through this index, finding good combinations for one project in particular ('good' being that it fits in the floorplate, with a decent floorplate efficiency).
The issue is that most of the log file isn't appropriate, only a very small percentage of combinations in the index are good for each floorplate (where each floorplate is represented by a separate path, by the way), hence me wanting to record only the best. I guess that is an optimisation, but I can't think of a better way of 'tunneling' through to a solution, to use your analogy. More than open to ideas, by the way!
The truth is I feel I am very close, if only I could code. In one hand I have the data recorder which sorts and keeps good values (Pieter's script), and in the other I have this one which keeps the paths separate....

Just my first thoughts. That breakdown in optimization is just an example. Maybe 'sections' is an old-school way of seeing things, I just wanted to share some thoughts on the kind of content I look forward to seeing. It can be pragmatic topics, but also theoretical, and allow folks to share their projects and research. Some categories are specific, others broad. I suppose I'm interested in community building with regards to computational design. I think SmartGeometry attempted to accomplish this at some point in the past, to some degree. However their focus appears to be in the workshops and challenges.
I recall the silly flame wars that the CG industry had 20 years ago (lame). I'd avoid that, even if it meant forbidding the mention of any specific software in certain areas or in the entire forum. Which would be tricky, but the endless flame wars and silly comparisons were such a waste of everyone's time in CG.
Without dwelling on this too much yet, I think that the software specific questions belong in software specific forums. If we already had a common language for computational design, you'd just need to add the right description as a meta-tag to any Dynamo or Grasshopper forum post, and you'd be able to find analogous solutions in either forum effortlessly, right?
The Dynamo and Grasshopper forums lack design-centric content. The emphasis is generally on the tools and workflow. Computational design is hybrid in essence, it involves both design and computer programming (be it visual or textual). We could really use a forum for knowledge exchange where the expectation is that both are discussed with equal status.
I disagree that such a forum ought to exclude professional programmers. It should include professional programmers whom have an interest in design, and also include professional designers whom have an interest in computer programming, and everyone in between, and enthusiasts, and artists whom are curious about algorithms as a creative medium, and academics, and students, and etc etc. As long as there is rich content and activity on design as well, not only the computational bit, then the crowd will be diverse and we'll all have more to learn from one another.…
this was about some boring building I wouldn't respond ... but here we are talking sardines.
Here's my take on that matter:
1. The 4 C# first create/use a nurbs, then define some random planes (and transformations) and then (a) either they place some humble stripes or ... er ... (b) sardines as instance definitions (NOTE: Load Rhino file first).

5. The vodkaFactor on that Sardiniser C# adds some spice in the sardine placement (it does that by altering the priority on the "composite" transformation in use: first randomly rotate then planeToPlane .... or the other thing?).

that's because every curve generates a box (image 3).
After what i check the Option ''Union'' box to make only one box for all the curves (image 4).
