In other words, I'm looking for the GH equivalent of
Dim x As New List(Of List(Of List(Of Double)))
For example, I might have an outer list of 10 items each containing 20 lists with 30 items inside each 2nd tier list.
Say the outgoing gh_Structure is:
Dim outgoing_Struc as new gh_structure(of gh_number)
I can't seem to figure out how I might use the "append" method to GH_Structure to insert items to specific paths to create a list of a list.
The additional complexity is that I want to customize the indices of the outgoing list. Instead of the outer most list running straight from 0 to 9, I might want to have its indices non-sequential as {0}, {2}, {5}, {11} for example. This helps in using the "Tree Item" component downstream as these specific non-sequential indices refer to something specific upstream.
For example, with custom indices, I can pull a specific sublist by using index {11;3} which may not exists if the indices ran sequentially.
I guess the more general questions is whether anybody has pointers on creating nested trees in a custom component with specific indices? It appears that GH_Path has a "DebuggerDisplay" property which masks the internal continuously running index but this is a read only property.
Any pointers would be helpful
Thanks.…

3d.com/group/anemone). changing a gene will start the loop which iterates for 5 times. The loop will output a mesh at each iteration, however the one we want to optimize is the fifth result. So we have a gate that opens when the iteration reaches 5 and passes both the mesh and the objectives to Octopus.
When running Octopus, we are facing the following:
- Neither the labels of the axes nor the results are appearing in the Octopus solution space, although we have the axes names shown in the axes list.
- Though sometimes octopus is running, it is generating solutions more than the set population ( population of 5 individuals and 3 generation is generating more than 30 individuals and all in generation 1 ).
- Even when reseting Octopus doesn't reset. Octopus adds new individuals/phenotypes to the generation instead of starting fresh
- When it crashes the following is shown in the octopus error log (reduction of environmental selection did not yield the correct archive sizeError), ( I have seen the post by Stan regarding the same error message in the log).
I have attached a diagram showing the overall logic and a screen shots ( which I hope they are clear).

I am not knowledgeable about google maps nor google maps api, but from what I read the two components will definitely show a bit different results due to different topography sources. If it is judging by this 2010 article, your Terrain Generator component offers much higher precisions for USA. Precision goes up to a couple of meters, which is amazing!!On the global scale it offers either SRTM 1 or 3 arc-second data or 30 arc-second GLOBE data. Again this is from the mentioned article, I couldn't find this information by searching the Google Maps website.Terrain Generator 2 component always uses SRTM 1 arc-second data from opentopography.org, and it is limited to 60 degrees north and does not have data for Antarctica. It does not come with satellite image either which is another very convenient feature that you have!I couldn't find information about the allowed radius provided by the Google maps api free account. I limited the "radius_" input to 100 000 meters, even though opentopography.org provides more than that (I successfully downloaded 300 000, but Rhino 5 was not able to create a topography on my PC from such a large amount of data).Even though I couldn't compare the results from two components, by looking at your upper example_LB_terrain_generator.gh definition: set the "I" input of "Surface from points" component to True. In this way the surface will be interpolated through points, which is what we want.
Again thank you for the permission, and I look forward seeing those high precision topography that Google maps offers!!…

the hack is found here: http://fancywires.com/?p=499
it doesn't function the same as it used to, and i wonder if somethings have changed in the functions underlying the VB script or maybe some other updates to GH that are relevant.
furthurmore, i ask if anyone has made advancements on labeling techniques for cnc/laser cutting?
is there anything more built into GH to do this task?

Yesterday I was asked a modified version of the script. Now it supports planes, so it should be easier to use.

cool! I also recently adapted the old version to use an input plane instead of a point... i'll have to look at your script to see if we made the same solution.
thanks for your reply... is there anyway that your script could take care of the hack that fancywires has made afterwards? it would be great to have each letter returned cleaned and joined, so there were exactly the same number of curves in the output as characters in the input...
i am basically clueless with VB and .net scripting so far, but i can code in AS3 and php, so a small push in the right direction might get me far...
How can one return one single curve in a letter like "O"? Do you mean using single-stroke fonts? Or maybe returning a brep (polysurface) as output?

the use of digital technologies as architectural design tools. The workshop " Computer Aided Design: parametric design and digital fabrication " aims to do some introductory teaching in the use of some of these tools.
The workshop will focus on the use of computational models of parametric behavior for generating architectural forms. The generative capacity of these models it will be tested in the development of designs defined by repetitive non-standard components, based on the parametric control of its variations and series differentiations. This process will be developed by the use of a three-dimensional modeling software - Rhinoceros, associated with an application for visual programming - Grasshopper.
The last day of the workshop is dedicated to the use of digital manufacturing tools in architecture. Part of the work will take place at the facilities of the Institute of Design of Guimarães (IDEGUI) providing for the use of their laboratories and manufacturing CNC machines (computer numerically controlled).
At the end of the workshop, it is intended the students to understand that the use of digital technologies in architecture can overcome representational functions, and their integration in the design conception, analysis and construction enriches the methodology of project development.
Terms & Participants
The workshop will take place at the School of Architecture of the University of Minho (Campus Azurém, Guimarães) and the Institute of Design of Guimarães (Couros, Guimarães).
The workshop is pointed at students who attend the 3rd year and 4th year from MiArq, EAUM.
The maximum acceptance is 20 students and a minimum of 10 students.
Deadline for entries is April 11 and must be performed by eaum.pac@gmail.com.
