ectural project, the efficiency of design communication and the control of information-flow are as important as the creativity of ideas. In response to the concurrent digital evolution emerging in the architectural industry world-wide, the Faculty of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong will host a two week intensive summer program named Digital Practice.Led by professors from The University of Hong Kong, as well as invited practitioners with expertise in practice of cutting edge digital techniques, the program offers participants opportunities to experience applications of computational tools during different stages of an architectural project, i.e. concept design, form finding and optimization, delivery, management and communication of design information under the team-based working environment. By learning advanced computational techniques through case studies in the context of Hong Kong, participants are expected to go beyond the conventional perception of technology, considering users and tools as a feedback-based entity instead of a dichotomy. The program, which is taught in English, includes a series of evening lectures related delivered by teaching staff and invited local architects. …
and fine-grained control over the Excel 2017 COM objects, to be used with Bumblebee. :) I was unable to get Bumblebee working with the latest Excel, and I wanted to add more fine-grained control over file creation, application processes (killing background processes primarily), etc. Now that it's mostly working, I'm really enjoying all of the flexibility you've built in to Bumblebee. It's working great.
Anyway, I'll share that when it's ready, still more testing to do...
Cheers,
Marc

. The purpose of the conference is to exchange knowledge on topics that are of importance to construction and design industries now and in the future and to energize, educate and inspire the next generation of designers.
This conference will also be a great opportunity to exchange between participants by making use of a variety of session styles including panel discussions, short lectures and hands-on workshops. Accomplished designers and researchers will pair with emerging and innovative designers to present ideas on what the future holds for structural engineering. We will also discuss the future of our practice as a whole and how we adapt as designers to ever changing contexts with increasing complexity.
Each ticket includes access to lectures & workshop and breakfast/lunch/after event-party
Get your tickets here now or find out more about the conference at fodnyc.org

s Bagot and Deepak Aatresh of Aditazz, will be joined by leaders of the AEC profession to discuss the topics of Computational Design and Big Data.
The first half of the symposium will highlight recent advances in data-intensive computational design, analysis, construction, and fabrication. The second half of the symposium will concentrate on how web-based applications can enhance these processes in the future.
The symposium will be followed by a weekend-long hackathon aimed to generate new ideas and processes for the AEC community through data-driven design and web-based applications.

arches and then chopping the blob end off.
I've then 'set one surface' in grasshopper ready to sub divide this surface, but the grasshopper definition seems to remember the original UV points (illustrated by bright green curves) before I split the surface and therefore applies the sub divide to the original geometry i've already chopped off as seen in the image.
If I try applying a diagrid component directly to the surface, it puts all 41 points along one edge of the surface on top of each other. In the image this is seen as 9 points along the edge.
The green curves on the surface show how the UV points are traced around the surface.
I guess the best way to get an even diagrid is to remove the existing UV points so I can subdivide the surface. Any suggestions?

ir surroundings. Our built environment continues to evolve, into an interconnected hyperspace where architecture can be fluid, flexible and vivid. In 2017, AA Athens Visiting School, will address architectural themes involving active engagement and participatory design through prototypes that are characterized by action.
Action-designed structures enabled by technology today, begin to timidly move beyond the utopian proposals of the 20th century’s manifestos and hold a place in the world of realized designs. The AA Athens Visiting School incorporates in the design process, materials and scientific devices as vital parts of the end-creations. The research aims at bringing closer the user with the built environment via space animation and animate and in its’ methodology, it rethinks habits of designing, building and experiencing space through materiality. In “SYMMETRY SENTIENCE”, materiality and form are considered as a “unified whole”. The programme will investigate how membranes can reshape our architectural understanding by bringing curvature and translucency. The design teams will focus on the flexible nature of tensile fabric that can be energized by motion and real-time reaction to various parameters. In this world of “living” structures and interactive formations, the design language includes Processing, Arduino, Rhino Modelling, and Grasshopper. The architecture programme, integrates manufacturing techniques that enable the design teams to actively experience the aspect of fabrication in 1:1 scale. A set of lectures and tutorials by experts from internationally renowned academics and practitioners, from the Architectural Association, Zaha Hadid Architects and others, form the theoretical background based on aspects of computational space, machinic control as well as responsive and kinetic design.
Eligibility
The workshop is open to architecture and design students and professionals worldwide.
Accreditation
Participants receive the AA Visiting School Certificate with the completion of the Programme.

ed in "not allowing" ecotect to reverse it back to the original colour is to use an additional boolean toggle at EcoSetUserMaterial component.Because for some reason, when ever I just used boolean toggle at "EcoMeshExport" after changing the colour of the custom material in Ecotect (like in previous video), it did not work. Now with this new boolean toggle, it works - meaning that colour does not reverse to it's original one. On the other hand the results are incorrect - because "EcoObjectRequest" outputs the same values for daylight factors in case of material with dark colour, and the same material but with bright colour - which is impossible. Material with too dark colour should absorb more light than the bright one. Therefor the illuminance and finally daylight factors should be at smaller than in case of the same material of a bright colour. But as you can see in this new video, that is not the case, and the daylight factors simply remain the same:
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xy1rnl_ecotect-new-material-3_tech
Which is incorrect, if the colour of the material truly changed.
Any help?
