Nitant Hirlekar A.k.a. Pixelkar, is a Computational Artist. He graduated from Rachana Sansad school of Interior Design 2011, Mumbai. In Academics He Bagged Two Gold and One Silver Medal on National Level.
In his post academic days, he came across the Emerging Computational Techniques in Design industry in which Algorithm serves as a main Functional part. He uses Algorithms to Deconstruct the Captured images in Pixelated form using the Grid of the Desired Indian Art Forms.
He Heads Collective Group Named "Mutation Lab” which is a multidisciplinary Design & Art Cell. Where they Explore Computational Approach while Designing Various Scales Spatial Installation, Digital Fabrication, Interactive Installations and Computational Consultancy for Various Architects.
He has exhibited his first artwork in Kalaghoda Arts Festival for in 2014 And further in 2016 and 2017.In 2015 he exhibited in Dharavi Biennale” organized by Wellcome Trust,London & Sneha Organisation, Mumbai Which was internationally acclaimed. In 2016 he got Featured on a TV show - The Creative Indian's as an Absolut Creative Indian of the Week.

For each case I get close to those numbers but not those numbers. I get around 38 for the CIE and and 48.something for the uniform sky.
Also I would expect that for each window, which has the center point above the roof or the context they would all get the maximum value, irrelevant also of their horizontal location,which is not the case (they have very slight deviations).
Radiance uses a stochastic method for lighting simulation and up to 5% tolerance in the results even for the same case is normal. Just re-run the analysis couple of times and you will see the numbers will slightly change. You will get 49.something in couple of tries.
Also I noticed that I have to reconnect the ptsFileAddress input each time I change the testSurface objects, but probably this is an expected behavior.
In case you are using searchAnnual component to read the results, connect done output to refresh input so the results will be updated automatically.
are you considering of adding a Radiance Folder Output to the runDaylightAnalysis so we don't repeat with text Concatenation the folder location manually?
It is already there. gridBasedResultFiles outputs the file address. Sorry if the example file was confusing. In that example I wanted to make it clear that you can reproduce all the results from the study folder. I intentionally made the result visualization harder than what it can be to make sure users will educate themselves about the outputs but not as hard as what you have been doing. Sorry! :)

rototyping techniques, the programme will investigate patterns of emergence, differentiation and complexity in natural formation processes which will be transformed to digital simulation platforms for design purposes. In contemporary architectural processes, a significant diversion from linear parametric tools towards generative design simulations is taking place. The design and analysis processes will reflect this shift by focusing on simulations, whereby attention will be kept on the process of design generation as opposed to the final form itself. The design agenda of the programme will revolve around the design and fabrication of a one-to-one scale pavilion.
The programme will be formulated as a two-phase process:
Stage 1: Participants will gain an understanding of formation processes in nature, coupled with core concepts related to complexity. During this stage, basic and advanced tutorials on generative design algorithms and analysis tools will be provided. AA Istanbul VS will perform as a team-based workshop promoting collaboration and research. Participants will be introduced to advanced fabrication techniques.
Stage 2: Participants will propose design interventions based on the skills and knowledge gained during the first stage. Study models of various scales will be produced, finally followed by the fabrication and assembly of a full scale working prototype which unifies the design goals of the programme.
The design agendas of AA Athens and AA Istanbul Visiting Schools will directly create feedback on one another, allowing participation in either one or both Programmes.
Prominent features of the programme / skills developed:
Participants will be part of an active learning environment where the large tutor to student ratio (4:1) allows for personalized tutorials and debates.
The toolset of AA Istanbul includes but is not limited to Rhinoceros, Grasshopper, and Processing.
Participants will have access to large-scale digital fabrication tools.
Design seminars and international lecture series will support the key objectives of the programme.

The workshop is open to current architecture and design students, PhD candidates and young professionals.

I scaled that mesh just to fit Rhino grid, but it is not mandatory. What is useful, is to scale not uniformly the mesh (Scale NU). It could be done after cellular modifier applied or before or before and after. The 3 options are possible in the script. If you don’t need them just put 1 in scale sliders.
Ellipsoid mesh is the populated with points, I put 2 independents populations to randomize a bit further. For each vertices of the mesh the closest distance from the populated points is calculated.
Here is an illustration in color of this distance.
This distance is then used to calculate a bump. If domain for bump is beginning with negatives values to 0, it carves the mesh. Instead it bumps/inflates it.

The PC actually stops working because after a few seconds the simulation starts the fan inside the PC all of a sudden stops and for the next 5-10 mins I cannot do anything, even alt+ctrl+canc. After I wait for that time i get the followig error:

Since 2014 i begun to get back into the construction biz for some dozen main reasons, one of them being the highly increased availability of this kind of software "power", and robotics.
first project ended by 1stQ 2015 was focused on the development of a parametric block for construction. (almost sure the first parametric product designed in Uruguay, and probably one of the few first of this kind globally...)
Far from being a complicated model. In fact the standard model is extremely simple, key thing is that is fully parametric...
dimensions, materials, textures, colors... and so on
second key thing is that the main common component of the blocks (an EPS core) is robotically machined...
the blocks are the base of a construction system (oriented mainly - though not restricted only - to residential buildings) that
- is based on digital models, tendentially to be used in parametric models of buidings
- lab tested to prove to be 1.5 times as compression resistant than traditional bricks and blocks. (autoportability up to two stories buildings)
- has recently proved (due to size) to be 300% more efficient than the classic and 200% more efficient than steel frame in (our country official figures)

3 of them of mechanical devices designed as extensions for a cnc machine i own
and the fourth (
the patent related specifically with the blocks ) included a dozen of innovations (believe me...i have almost 15 yrs in the biz, and are coool stuff...)
along the project I've been working with inventor, even knowing in advance it will lack the kind of features I wanted to program many things... (lisp, VB, etc.... all same species of -prehistoric - animals) to leverage the tool to the sky - and far beyond... -
but was an alternative valid by that time because it allows the implementation of some form of parametric models, had a local representative and some supposedly skilled guys in the neibourhood....
but life is hard... and none of the latter two rendered me any significant help
so I had to take the tour myself...

2017-2018 it's the time frame to build two robots. first one is a prototype to handle the k-nano blocks in the production process, delivery AND at the construction site ( a "smart crane" we nicknamed...)
the other one is the first prototype of robot to assist in the fabrication (smart blocker we called it to be creative ! ;))
then by 2018-2019 i'll be making a "kinda contour crafter" machine to complete the pie :) (you'll be interested on this..)
i guess you already know what all this has to do with GH...
i already have all the components i can imagine to do almost all i ever wanted to do in relation to this set of projects

component I just used different components and GH tools to do the same - and this become part of my short paper submission for SimAUD 2016). My solution compares the height of the same points of different solar envelope and then chose the lowest one. I read about the improvement you are working on and it is good but I think it is not yet what I need (or how the solar envelope tool could be more complete).
What I need is a solar envelope that would guarantee on different facades with different orientations (the example I sent you) a certain amount of direct sunlight, say 4h per day in a given period for example all the month of June at 60°N. So to guarantee the south facing facade I should chose the vectors from 10 to 14. But these are not ok for all the other facades because in this timeframe the East and West facing facades get only 2 hours and the North get 0 hours.
So the fist step would be have the possibility to chose different sun vectors for different facades. For the example I did (the 4 hours in June at 60°N) the south facing facade would need from 10 to 14, the East facing for example from 8 to 12, the West facing facade from 12 to 16 and the North facing facade from 6 to 8 and from 18 to 20.
If I would chose a single longer time frame that could get all these hours, from 8 to 20 then the resulting solar envelope would result probably smaller than the sum of the four solar envelopes.
But this is not complete yet. I mean the use of different sun vectors on different facades. The reason is that for example when I chose the sun vectors from 8 to 12 for the four hours on the East facing facade how do I know that the sun hit on the facade in that time frame or maybe it is obstructed by surrounding buildings? Since the sun at 60°N (where I live) in June rise at around 3.15 then maybe for that specific facade the sun hit from 4 to 8 and not from 8 to 12.
I did an extreme case talking about 60°N and that maybe the sun hit on a facade at 4 instead than 12, but it is just to make understand the logic. My suggestion for a more advanced solar envelope it should be integrated with the Sunlight Hours tool of ladybug. So the input should not be the sun vectors because I don't know when the sun hit on the facade but the input should be just the desired number of hours and the possibility to specify different number of hours for each facade. Then this last component that sum different solar envelope (I didn't use it yet but I understood what it does) should be integrated yes so the result would be one single solar envelope more likely using the lowest points (the highest I don't understand what for).

as part of the firm's mantra. As a result of these ideals, my role involved Grasshopper 3D development (alongside other software development roles when needed).
As someone with a programming background, I was at first indifferent on work with a graphical programming language, as I said to myself "I surely can accomplish things done here with much less fluff." Through the six months of use and development, things became more clear both as a workflow of using GH on a canvas or diving deep via Visual Studio. On a lower level, the C# datatypes that are used profusely within the components and the lack of custom datatypes (which IMO is a great thing) makes development and compatibility with existing/future components a breeze.
I personally cannot wait to see what Grasshopper 3D 2 will entail (even though I am not an architect and won't be able to afford a Rhino license after today). David's blog is something I fanboy'd to for a good couple weeks; his thoughts on software development are things that resonate with me. I cannot wait to see this sapling of Grasshopper 3D blossom into an even better product both on the top level and lower level (SDK, documentation, software architecture, speed, rendering, and more) with the second edition. Hopefully, development means David will still be able to find the time and love to allocate towards GH 1, while he's busy changing the world, answering developer's questions religiously, writing documentation, and just being a super human developer in general. David you're an absolute monster. In a good way.
The GH developer's community is small, but the closeness and helpfulness of the community is not meager in any sense. Keep up the paradigm-shifting, making programming accessible to programmers/architects alike, and the incredible user experience thoughts that go into Grasshopper.

For the next six months I will be going back to classes as part of my Computer Engineering curriculum. Today is my last day at this co-op. For my third co-op, I will be working outside the US (as my CPT/OPT will exceed the allowed 365 days), though the details of which company or country I will be working in unknown yet; will be starting that process in the coming months. My anticipated graduation date is 2016.
