Objetivos:
El curso está dirigido a cada diseñador, ingeniero o arquitecto que quiere obtener una sólida base en modelado generativo y paramétrico dentro del flujo de trabajo en Rhinoceros.
En el curso se explorarán y construirán estructuras en el espacio paramétrico, incorporando entidades geométricas (Curvas, Superficies, Puntos, etc…) y usando patrones algorítmicos para la generación de estructuras con metabolismos contextualizados.
Cada paso será soportado con ejercicios que gradualmente incrementarán su complejidad.
El alumno aprenderá cómo trabajar con asociación geométrica y parámetros. Para perfeccionar asociación geométrica – asociación entre partes, asociación dinámica – las formas geométricas son generadas al seguir la conexión lógica entre la parte geométrica y sus restricciones, dimensión paramétrica y él proceso dinámico del diseño: Estimulamos el pensamiento relacional para la construcción de Diseño y Arquitectura de alto desempeño.
Resultados:
Los participantes con éste entrenamiento obtendrán las siguientes fundamentos.
· Generar aplicaciones orientadas al análisis, la optimización, documentación del diseño y fabricación.

nteraction in the design of an enclosed volume.
Revolutions have occurred through architectural history and vary widely in terms of design methods and fabrication techniques. Focusing on inspiring natural form‐finding techniques, AA Athens VS works towards producing a large‐scale interactive prototype that alters in real‐time the perception of interior space.
Technology and architecture are coupled for the third year in Athens with a novel agenda of transforming an enclosed area and creating internal contrasting city‐life characteristics that transcend the local conditions. In collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens, Cipher City: Revolutions explores participatory design and active engagement modeling and continues building novel prototypes upon horizontal planes.
The toolset includes mainly ‐among others‐ Rhino Grasshopper, Processing and Arduino platforms. With the completion of the Programme participants receive the AA Visiting School Certificate. In 2013, the design agenda of AA Athens will connect with the agenda of AA Greece VS in the city of Patras. Participation in both Programmes will allow for a more extensive learning experience through additional tools like Autodesk Maya, Autodesk 3D Studio Max and more.
Discounts
The AA offers several discount options for participants wishing to apply as a group or participants wishing to apply for both AA Athens and AA Greece Visiting Schools:
1. Standard application
The AA Visiting School requires a fee of £600 per participant, which includes a £60 Visiting Membership. If you are already a member, the total fee will be reduced automatically by £60 by the online payment system. Fees are non-refundable.
2. Group registration
For group applications, there will be a range of discounts depending on the number of people in the group. The discounted fee will be applied to each individual in the group.

a machine that is light and very sturdy. I have taken my Macbook Pro all around the world, carry it with me every day, even dropped it a few times and its still totally fine. Its thin and light.
2) You get some actual support for your hardware even a few years down the line. My Macbook Pro is from 2012 and I can still walk in to any Apple Store and get help with it, which I have done many, many times in different places around the world - I never had to show a receipt or was charged any money for help. There is no PC/Laptop manufacturer in the world with anything close to that, because companies like Asus, Dell, etc. bring out dozens of new versions of laptops every year, so its much harder to service them after a few years.
3) This is the most important one, which usually people forget when they say that Macbooks are overpriced: Resale Value. If you have ever tried to sell an old PC/Laptop (I have a few times), you will know how little value they have even after just 2-3 years. Macbooks retain their value very well and even after 4 years you can still get 50% of your original price.
4) Of course you can install Windows on it and it runs perfectly. I have MacOS and Windows on it and both run absolutely fine. On the Windows side I have Rhino+GH, Maya and a few others. Having Windows is good, because some software still only runs on Windows (looking at you, 3DSMax!). Most other software also runs on MacOS. In the interest of sanity it is great to have an alternative to Windows for all the day to day stuff, like Mail, Calender, Photos, Presentations, etc. that just always works.
5) As for performance: Yes, Macbook Pros dont necessarily have the latest and greatest in graphics cards (the rest is on par with PC laptops), but unless you want to play games you will not need it. VRay RT can do GPU rendering, but you wont get great performance from a Notebook GPU anyways and it doesnt make sense to do rendering on a laptop (especially since you have a workstation). You could get one of the older Macbook Pro Retina Late 2013 or Mid 2014 models with the GTX750M by Nvidia, which will be usable to render using VRay RT, but of course not huge performance. Better to invest in a good used graphics card for your workstation like an Nvdia GTX980ti, which is the best value for money for GPU rendering right now (lots of used ones available).
So at least consider also getting a Macbook Pro. You can buy refurbished models (depending where you are) and they are like new, but a lot cheaper or even get an older one thats used. It will be a worthwile investment.
Take it from someone who has used dozens of PCs and Macs in my lifetime and have to do the IT support here at work (where we also use both).
I still have my Macbook Pro Retina from 2012 and its still running perfectly, super fast, and I can use Rhino and GH for huge files, do GPU Rendering with Octane Render and all sorts of other heavy computing stuff.

The fact that sphere 'Volume' is required a second time, after 'Pull' to wires, reminds me of a similar issue we dealt with last week: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/trimming-points-pulled-fr...
Seems to me that 'Pull Point' has a serious defect that requires extraordinary effort and/or kludgy code to remedy. If you don't graft the curves, 'Pull' returns each point pulled to it's nearest curve - exactly what you want, except without knowing which curve puled it?
In this code (above), you are using 'Pull D (Distance)', 'Smaller' with an arbitrary value as 'B' and 'Cull' to associate the closest curve with each point. In the other thread, I ended up creating brep cylinders around the curves to get the correct result. Ridiculous!!
I've spent a lot of time trying and utterly failing to find a truly proper solution. Is there one? (see "AHA!!!!" below!)

AHA!!!! I had given up and was about to post the above when I finally solved it. Created a cluster called 'PullT' that does the job, sorting by 'D (Distance)'. Here's the cluster:

Notice that 'PullT' emits a cull pattern ('Pc') that can be used on related data to structure it into the same tree pattern - 'Volume (V)' in this case, so it's only used once. Could do the same with the original mesh spheres if there was reason to do so.
I've tested it on last week's code in the other thread and it seems to work fine; will post it there shortly.…
h, and using the BScale and BDistance are creating havoc somehow too. I've simplified first, and used the Kangaroo Frames component along with setting internal iterations, to make MeshMachine act like a normal component, along with releasing the FixC and FixV. The FixV didn't make any sense anyway. I've also set Pull to 0 to speed it up during testing, since much less calculation is involved to just let the meshes collapse, prevented from disappearing altogether by using a mere 15 iterations.
Also, your breps are open so that allows much more chaos and then collapse, though they did manage to close themselves too at times. Here is closed breps with a full 45 iterations:
So now that it's working, lets re-Fix the curves, and the problem arises that there is an extra seam line that is getting fixed too, running along the cylinder, stopping the mesh from pulling tight under tension wherever a vertex happens to be near that line:
So lets grab only the naked edge curves instead:
And what happens if we lose the end caps, now that we don't have an extra line skewing the result?:
There is no real curvature differences since it's not a curvy brep so the Adapt at full 1 setting has little to do. Now what does the BScale and BDist do? Nothing! Why? Your scale is out of whack, 99 mm high cylinders but only a falloff maximum of about 5, so let's make the falloff be 25 instead, but I must restore the end caps or the meshes collapse away for some reason and freezes Rhino for a minute or so the first time I try it:
It's a start.
If I intersect the cylinders, nothing changes, since they are being treated as separate runs. MeshMachine outputs a sequence of two outputs though, due to Frames being set to a bare minimum of 2 needed to get it to work, so I filter out the original run, which is just the unmodified initial mesh it creates.
The lesson so far is that closed meshes are much less prone to collapse and glitches leading to screw ups.
A Boolean union of the cylinders is when it gets funner, here show with and without the fixed curves that seem to define boundaries too where really there are just polysurface edges:

Con questo approccio diventano sempre più rilevanti il comfort visivo e la gestione dell’illuminazione naturale in relazione al risparmio energetico. Di fatto, il nuovo protocollo Leed v4 riconosce crediti ad hoc e conferma l’importanza della progettazione daylighting per “collegare gli occupanti con lo spazio esterno, rinforzare i ritmi circadiani, ridurre l’uso dell’illuminazione elettrica con l’introduzione della luce naturale negli spazi”.
Una progettazione robusta richiede l’uso di strumenti di simulazione efficaci e Radiance è riconosciuto come uno dei software con le capacità di fornire risultati affidabili. Radiance è utilizzato sia a livello di ricerca che tra i progettisti, ed è tra i più accurati per la simulazione professionale della luce naturale ed artificiale. Non ha limiti di complessità geometrica ed è adatto a essere integrato in altri software di calcolo e interfacce grafiche. Le principali e più versatili tra queste (DIVA4Rhino, plug-ins per Grasshopper e Rhinoceros3D), essendo in grado di facilitare notevolmente le procedure di programmazione, saranno oggetto del corso.
Il corso è rivolto a progettisti e ricercatori che vogliano acquisire strumenti pratici per la simulazione con Radiance al fine di mettere a punto e verificare le soluzioni più adatte alle proprie esigenze. Sono previste lezioni di teoria e pratica con esempi ed esercitazioni volte a coprire in modo dimostrativo ed interattivo i concetti trattati.

bject of this edition focuses on the investigation of interactions between the environment and the human being, made through objects, mechanisms and architectures able to interact with who makes use of them. The aim of digitalMed IV is drawing a catalogue of projects/prototypes to insert them in an urban context, and to outline new future-cities profile.
PURPOSES AND TERMS:
The digitalMed Summer School IV edition aims to organize the flows of information, in which the city is absorbed, to adapt projects and to make them useful, no invasives, and suitable to establish an information exchange.
The concepts of slow cities and smart cities are directed by all types procedures, from immaterial to materia, from information to the built. This is the iter that we will follow to reinvent the relationship between man, environment and cities.
Through learning by-doing educational procedure, participants will acquire not only new metodologies and means, but also concrete cases where testing these ones. In this way, new acquired information won’t remain simple educational exercises, but will be notable elements in the portfolio participants.
TOPICS:
The planning approach of digitalMed Summer School IV edition will supply to participants all the technic knowledges and theoretical bases in order to work.
The first days of workshop will focus on the outline of a shared vocabulary that allows to work from shared meanings. This phase is characterized by subjects occurring in the contemporary architecture such as computational design, digital fabrication and data driven, then systems, like Arduino, which allow the interaction with objects, and fields like permaculture and social innovation that nowadays contribute to the realignment of environment and city’ ideas.
The participants will have the opportunity to learn the use of software for the parametric planning, like Grasshopper, and to test interactions between real information and virtual data (and viceversa) through the use of Arduino.
PREREQUISITES:
The workshop is open both to the students and to the professionals. It needs a basic knowledge of Rhinoceros 3D program. All the participants have to bring their own laptop. The programs for installing will be communicated during the registration act.
