et camera to do this.
There are also calculations being done on the building. (Glare using Honeybee, if you're interested.) These calculations are dependent upon the camera location in the viewport.
It is very important that the camera location is updated BEFORE the calculations are done. Otherwise the calculations will be wrong.
I therefore need to understand how Grasshopper chooses the order of calculation. Is it possible to set the canvas up in such a way that I can guarantee that the camera will always be set before the calculations are done?
In the real version of this file, the calculations are being looped hundreds of times. Therefore I cannot check each result manually, meaning I need to be sure that Grasshopper is behaving as I need it to.
I am aware of this post from 2012 where Rutten essentially says it is random. But 3 years is a long time in development cycles. Is this still the case?
Thanks in advance for your help :)…

ly 26-27-28-29 (digital fabrication)
The third edition of digitalMed Workshop is structured as a design laboratory. Participants will learn the challenging process of producing ideas, projects and research analysis that are to be developed through specific software and concepts that emerge through the use of mapping, parametric design and digital fabrication.
The workshop will take place in the city of Salerno (Italy) and it will last 11 days structured into 3 intensive weekends: July 13-14-15 (mapping); July 19-20-21-22 (parametric design); July 26-27-28-29 (digital fabrication).
Goals and Objectives:
We aim to make clear the theoretical and technical knowledge in the approach to parametric and generative design and digital fabrication. (From collection and data management, to the manner in which these inform the geometries, to the fabrication of prototypes.)
Participants will also have the opportunity to practice the new knowledge gained in the design laboratory through project work.
Project Theme:
"Urban Field" Identify, study and analyze the system of public spaces in the urban area of the city of Salerno.
Connection, mutation, generation and evolution are the themes to be followed in project work.
Brief Description of Topics:
- Mapping. Our reality, in all its forms, has studied through concepts of the theory of Complex Systems. The techniques that will be used to study events and places of reality, will work for the management, manipulation and visualization of data and information. These will form the basis for project management and driven geometry, conducted during the second phase of the workshop.
- Parametric Design. Introduction to Rhino* and Grasshopper. Specifically, we will explain the concepts with which to work with the software of parametric design and how they function. Through these tools, we will arrive at the definition of systems of mathematical and / or geometrical relationships that are able to generate and govern patterns, shapes and objects that will inform the final design.
- Digital Fabrication. In this phase, participants of the workshop are organized into working groups. Participants have access to materials and conceptual apparatus that will take them directly to the fabrication of the geometries of the project, with the use of software CAD / CAM interface and the use of machines for the digital fabrication.
The DigitalMed workshop is organized by Nomad AREA (Academy of Research & Training in topics of Contemporary Architecture), in collaboration with the City of Salerno, the Order of Architects Province of Salerno and the National Institute of Architecture In / Arch - Campania.
Interested parties may download the Notice of Competition at the address www.digitalmedworkshop.com and fill the pre-registration no later than July 10th 2012.

For those who did not see my previous Question you can use the attached user component to change the date and time into a more usable format.
..............................
I know of two very different methodologies. But as ever with GH I would like to see more :)
…
pper components convert a Date and Time String into an MS Excel Date Time Code. It must be exactly what excel would produce.
For those of you who don't know: Excel uses a serial number to handle date and time it is worked out by the number of days from 1-Jan-1900.
Would welcome any Scripts as a secondary exercise or if there is a Plug-in out there with a component just for this let us know.
This was going to be incorporated into another question but I thought I would break it down into easily manageable bites

Singapore
DESCRIPTION : Two seemingly contrasting ideas combined will turn into something remarkably new. This resulted in the idea of Digital Craftsmanship – connecting the digital technology with artisans’ craftsmanship. Singapore is uniquely positioned to benefit from both – the latest technology in digital fabrication, as well as the beautiful and rich culture of ASEAN craftsmanship in countries like Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. The NUS digital fabrication in architecture studio introduces advanced design to fabrication flow, such as 3D modeling, simulation, digital fabrication and physical assembly and testing. We discover existence of data flow distinguishes digital and conventional craftsmanship, prolonging the interface between human and object. The result is very encouraging –the Digital Craftsmanship approach could lead innovative yet regionally relevant contemporary architectural design, complex yet controlled functional geometry and aesthetics. We hope this exhibition could raise our awareness about preserving the precious wisdom of traditional craftsmanship alongside with advanced fabrication technologies in architecture.

chandelier where the process of design is perceived within the wide network of new digital technologies.
How:
Two phases will guide the exploration of the small object starting from an empirical moment of design to a more pragmatic construction phase
.A Design The first phase of the workshop is focused on parametric detailing and designing. The aim of the workshop is on generating volumetric non-standard lightweight structures within the constrains of available CNC machinery and material. Automatic unrolling, smart labelling and nesting are some of the things the participant will learn in the context of mass-customization. Rhino in combination with the Grasshopper will be used as a basic platform to develop the designs and prepare the documents for CNC-manufacturing. The design chosen for production and 1:1 assembly will be developed by the participants of the workshop.
.B Construction The second phase will be characterized by the realization of the best design previously selected. A consolidated expertise of Italian manufacture will sustain the building loop of the chandelier, from the production of the final components till the assembly of them. A milling machine is supported not only by a wide variety of different bits but mostly by a strong team of Italian craftsmen.
When:
. From Saturday the 7th of July 2012 till Friday the 13th of July 2012
Where:
. Iablu, via Enrico Mattei 40, 41043 Casinalbo Modena, Italy
Who:
The teaching method will be given by young experts in digital design and further implemented by professional Italian artisans, basic knowledge in the use of Rhinoceros 3D and physical modeling is required:
.A http://www.makeahybrid.org/ Matthijs la Roi .B http://www.iablu.it/ Carlo Maria Morsiani
Why:
The workshop is about the process of design, fabrication, construction, fun and friendship.
$:
The price relating the two periods will be 250 euros per person including :
.16 hours of design method .40 hours of fabrication method .material supply .milling machine time usage .insurance cover
It is important to know that in the expenses are not included the following services :

ld fabrication process for 1:1 components and assemblies. The event will be held in London at the RoboFold factory/studio from June 9th-12th. Workshop participants will investigate the design of facade forms in paper and card, and transfer these to Rhino's Grasshopper plugin to simulate folding and robotics. Using the in-house CNC vinyl cutter and CNC router, various scale prototypes will be folded by hand and by robot. The final 1:1 facade will be formed using 6-axis industrial robots.
