p 10 "Scripting Reality – Integrating 3D Point Clouds in parametric design workflows".
This research-based workshop will introduce participants to thegeometrical class of point clouds and ways to handle, manipulate, analyse and script with them. Participants will as well have the chance to get first-hand knowledge in the handling of 3d capturing devices and to link their outputs directly into a design environment.
The workshop poses especially the question of how changes on architectural scale can be tracked over time. Related algorithmic concepts and the Volvox plugin, allow for the first time to directly access and manipulate point clouds in a parametric design environment, will be introduced to the workshop participants. A 1:1 experiment on the ETH campus will provide a testbed. Participants will learn point cloud processing and learn to track objects solely on the base of point cloud analysis, find deviations against the planned and visualise the results.
The workshop is led by Mateusz Zwierzycki, Martin Tamke and Henrik Leander Evers. FARO provides several 3d scanners with helical adapters and acccess to the FARO SDK for the workshop. The workshop is modestly priced with 160CHF.

(tree info, relationships to certain other objects, etc.) after it's been baked, so that our team can hand tool some of the results, delete certain objects, etc. I'm using the doc.objects.find(guid) function right now - which works fine when I feed a string into the VB component and set the input as a GUID, but am having a hard time casting my strings from Excel into the GUID directly in the VB component. Hopefully it's easy to do and I can whack my palm on my face, as often I do. ions are probably reflective of the prevailing humidity conditions (I just had a chat about this with my advisor, who incidentally also happens to be on the committee for LM-83).
The Tregenza sky patches considered in daylighting calculations don't do a good job of incorporating the correct size of the sun into calculations. In the figure below, the sun on the right is the one considered for calculations in Daysim. You can get a more accurate answer by considering a more discretized sky, however, I am not aware if that is possible with Daysim (and therefore HB) right now. Therefore, your direct sun calculations are likely to be off somewhat depending on how much of it there is(I'd say overestimated).
The calculations with humid sky, which are on account of the sky itself (and not the sun alone) are likely to be more relevant.
Regarding your questions about studying weathering effects with LB/HB, I have no idea as that is something that I haven't looked into before. I am sure someone else on this list has a more informed opinion on this issue than I do.
Your project, and your approach to it, seems really interesting and I am glad to be having this discussion :).

Futhermore we've discovered the following bug/feature:
We export a cluster and reference it back into our .gh file, then copy the .ghcluster file to a different location and rename the copy (without opening or changing it), then also reference the copied version back into the .gh file. Now Grasshopper shows two clusters with two different file paths, but claims that they both are the same ("this cluster occurs twice in this document"). If I double click one of them, make a change and save, both clusters get changed, even though they are separate .ghcluster files.
This would follow the logic that David laid out in this entry (http://www.grasshopper3d.com/page/clusters09), that GH identifies a cluster not by its file name or location but by its internal ID.
An addition we would very much appreciate for the next GH update, would be the option to right click a referenced cluster and then not only be able to "update" it but to also to "relink" it to a new or different source.
Right now you have to rename or delete the .ghcluster file in order to relink a cluster via the update option. You can also overwrite the old cluster und update. However, sometimes we want to keep the old version or disentangle one of a clusters many instances and relink just one, with out loosing its various inputs and outputs by referencing the new version and reconnecting it.

In Mode Lab's "Grasshopper Primer", it says:
"Back in 2008, David posed the question: “what if you could have more explicit control over this history?” and the precursor to Grasshopper, Explicit History, was born. This exposed the history tree to editing in detail and empowered the user to develop logical sequences beyond the existing capabilities of Rhino3D’s built in features."
I thought that meant you could model something in Rhino, and use Grasshopper to modify its parameters, tapping in to Rhino's history. Something like in this video, where a simple vase is modelled in Autodesk Inventor, and the Inventor version of Genoform is used to create variations of it by modulating some named dimensions:

I read the whole Grasshopper Primer, and watched your introduction videos, but I'm still not clear as to whether Grasshopper can use or influence geometry modelled in Rhino. I see that you can reference points in Rhino. I know there's something called Geometry Pipeline, but I'm not clear on what it does.
From your answer, am I correct in understanding that the geometry must be modelled from the beginning inside Grasshopper? For example, the basic plastic bottle above has to be created using the circle, sweep, loft, etc. Grasshopper components, not the usual Rhino modelling techniques? In that case, it does seem like it might be rather tedious to model something like the telephone that way...…
