1. Select Branches
This has seemed to be missing to me since trees were introduced. Like Replace Branches, this component would allow the user to filter a tree with a branch pattern, but it would preserve the branch paths of the output elements instead of merging them into a given path. Maybe this can be done with Path Compare and Cull Pattern, but it should be easier.
E.g. for

Selecting 0:1:* would give

2. Extract Paths
Given an input tree this component would output a new tree where each element was the path of the corresponding element in the input tree.

The result would be

3. Set paths
This component would take a data tree and a path tree and apply the paths to the elements of the data tree.

Any elements in the data tree for which there is not a corresponding path in the path tree would retain its path (like Point 3).

If I use your proposed method, then the result would be (displayed for each insertion):
{U, A, B, C} 'insert U at index 0
{V, U, A, B, C} 'insert V at index 0

{V, U, X, W, A, B, C} 'insert X at index 2
{V, U, X, Y, W, A, B, C} 'insert Y at index 3

Whenever I insert an item into the list, it bumps all subsequent items up by one. This means that the *order* in which SetB and Imap are supplied greatly affects the result.
In the current scheme, the order is irrelevant, except for when you have identical index values, then the order should remain intact.

e by joining 6 points with distances between them as follows -
6 points on X axis : 10mm , 10mm , 10mm , 10mm , 10mm
6 points on Y axis - Are according to Fibonacci series. ie. distance between points is
A-A' : 5mm , 5mm , 10mm , 15 mm , 25 mm
B-B' : 25 mm , 15 mm , 10mm , 5mm , 5mm
C-C' : 25 mm , 15 mm , 10mm , 5mm , 5mm
D-D' : 5mm , 5mm , 10mm , 15 mm , 25 mm
