Into the 'exposure mesh' imput, I've got a mesh with 30 faces. Into the 'obstructing geo' input I've got a data structure {[0-1]} containing lists of geometry to use as obstructions. Currently I have 2 branches going in here while i'm testing it.
Going into the 'ray direction' input is a similar data structure containing lists of vectors {[0-11]} (one branch for each month, each branch has multiple items) going in here.
If I set the exposure component to shortest or longest list, it gives out 12 branches with 30 items in each branch (for each mesh vertex).
If I set the component to 'cross multiply', it gives out 24 branches with 30 items in each. However, the 24 branches simply go from {0} to {23} which means that I can't separate out the results from the two sets of obstructing geometry.
Is it possible to a) get the exposure component to give the correct output, or b) reassemble the output into a {[0-1];[0-11]} format?
Thank you for your help! Steven…
ation production and consumption that represent our physical world in numbers and complex networks. The advent of computational systems has not only helped in developing data production but also in transmitting data between different disciplines including architecture through fields of numbers/codes. Historically, numbers and proportions played a vital role in architectural production, now; the complex flow of data is opening unexpected territories for architects. Data Flow is an advanced computational design workshop that focuses on capturing, processing and utilizing real time data from the surrounding environment by means of physical computing and parametric design tools, enabling the participants to develop informed design solutions that adapt to the environment. The workshop knowledge objective is to reconsider abstract data as a design opportunity by developing the quantitative flow of data as a qualitative design approach. /// Application To apply, please follow this link to fill the application form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1xzKn-cZzfvu24ktTNP1ElGBAufdryfLNCXvpheucrS8/viewform /// Fees* 1700 EGP for students / 2000 EGP for graduates and young professionals * 20 % discount for early registration and payment before 22 nd of August 2014 more info on the workshop webpage: http://www.encodestudio.net/#!dataflow/cslb…
onstrates the following:
1. The definition's functionality employing HumanUI for the custom user interface.
2. Color based segmentation in manual and auto modes.
3. The evaluation of the definition's ability to handle different point cloud data sets.
This definition performs color based segmentation in two modes.
A manual mode, that implements the Delta-E CIE 2000 color difference formula, for targeted feature detection. An auto mode, that employs a simple RGB Color Range algorithm for quicker preliminary results.
RGB to XYZ to CIELab conversion and Delta-E scripts were based on Colormine's project code from github. Results have been compared and verified with the results of http://colormine.org/color-converter and http://colormine.org/delta-e-calculator/Cie2000.
Each stored class is charted and can be accessed through the UI, as shown at 2:30, where Delta-E CIE 2000, in CieLab color space, output results were found to be in perceptive conformity with human eyes, far superior to the preliminary RGB implementation.
Initial definition versions could process highly subsampled clouds in acceptable timings. Further research showed that employing the multithread processing of Volvox components, bundling the Delta E formula with the RGB to CIE lab color conversion script, per color segmentation calculations for a one million points point cloud would go down from 23 (c# script component) and 8 (vb script component) seconds to approx. 1 second (volvox script cloud component), thus allowing the segmentation of less subsampled point clouds.
I would like to thank Heumann A. and Zwierzycki M. who provided direct support with HumanUI and Volvox. Also Grasshopper3d forum users Maher S. and Segeren P., who contributed with Rhino viewport manipulation scripts.

is an emerging research area that exploits the principles and logic of natural systems in the design of the built environment. Sandworks* investigates the development of a computational design system informed by the sand self-formation behaviour. The knowledge objective is to understand the process of coding the material physical behaviour that follows the geometrical constraints of developable, ruled and hyperbolic surfaces formed by sand. Through physical and digital form-finding exercises, the workshop will explore the relationships between material and its shaping processes in the generation of form in parallel to theoretical lectures and discussion on cutting edge approaches of computational thinking, design and fabrication in architecture and design. Participants will be introduced to ruled based design thinking through digital design and fabrication systems as well as physical modelling and prototyping techniques.. The workshop aim is to provide an understanding framework of how such processes occur in nature and find their translation in the design of the artificial. *This research started at the Architectural Association school of architecture in London exploring the design and fabrication techniques of sand tectonic system and now it is pursued at ENSA Paris-Malaquias focusing on the development of the machinic morphogenetic possibilities of sand self-formation with robotic distribution of material through addition, subtraction and deposition techniques.www.sandworks.org /// Application To apply, please follow this link to fill the application form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1n_LN2svFTT79kCqndxznKRj4PX8J8__FVNKvjiHTeJU/viewform /// Fees* 1700 EGP for students / 2000 EGP for graduates and young professionals * 20 % discount for early registration and payment before 22 nd of August 2014 more info on the workshop webpage: http://www.encodestudio.net/#!sandworks/c1nn1…

Loop'. The fun part of the slower version is that you can see what it's doing while it's running. 'Fast Loop' gives no indication that it's working, so you want to test it with small numbers and be sure it's coded properly before bumping the iteration count up.
The GH profiler running the slow version showed between 1 and 1.5 seconds per loop, but the reality was more like ~10 seconds per loop toward the end of an 11 X 11 grid, or ~20 minutes total. It's easier to be patient because you know it's working.
The 'Fast Loop' finished the same grid in 1.6 minutes! An impressive improvement. I've been running it on a 30 X 30 grid (900 points) for ~23 minutes so far and see nothing yet. Not the ~12 minutes I had hoped for... Now 36 minutes on this loop for 900 points... hope it's not stuck. Not fast! Later - DONE!! Profiler says 59 minutes for 900 points but it was more like an hour and twenty minutes total. It succeeded, I have a single 'Closed Brep' from 900 extruded rings, baked to Rhino.
Another strategy to explore would be doing 'SUnion' on a smaller grid using the Anemone loop, then replicate it by moving it as needed to form a larger grid; then run the copies through another 'SUnion' loop. I went ahead and implemented that while waiting. It works and is fast! Started with 3 X 3 and ran the result again as 5 X 5 (9 X 25 = 225 total) in barely ~70 seconds!? Trying 36 X 36 now... 1,296 points appears to have succeeded in less than ten minutes! Though it seems to take quite awhile after the loop ends before control is restored to GH/Rhino. I'll let you do your own experiments and benchmarks.
I encapsulated the loop in a cluster called 'suLoop' (blue groups).

uired information, a poor representation of data evolve misreading messages and by turn ambiguous responses especially with complex data. Inforgraphics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge intended to present complex information quickly and clearly. In the nowadays flow of complex information, Infographics is the key for optimized visual communication. The use of infographics is an important step towards developing a pedagogical approach that draws on visuals where 90% of Information is transmitted to the brain so it is crucial to tickle the optic nerves to get people excited about data. The workshop investigates how computational tools can aid in designing and controlling complex information to be easily understood in addition to improve cognition by utilizing graphics to enhance the human visual system’s ability to see patterns and trends and much more likely to be remembered in today’s fast – paced environment. This workshop investigates multiple computational tools and techniques of developing coefficient visualization of data types including; network, statistical and hierarchal data. The workshop objective is to reconsider visual representation a promising design tool for architects, artists and designers. /// Application To apply, please follow this link to fill the application form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1HOv6c1_LzhHNJU5n_FLvuhC-Yg75HDfbEcq6TN6mulI/viewform /// Fees 1200 EGP for students / 1500 EGP for graduates and young professionals more info on the workshop webpage: http://www.encodestudio.net/#!infographics/cqvl
