radiance parameters to get rid of blotching. To add another level of complexity to my problem, I am running simulations with a translucent material with the following properties: void trans testTrans

0
7 0.478 0.478 0.478 0.000 0.010 0.178 0.635
I have had no issues with the renderings when I use clear glazing, as seen on this image:
However the blotching-issue becomes very noticeable when I introduce translucent glazing into the scene:
For the two above cases I used the following parameters:
_av_ is set to 0
xScale is set to 2
_ab_ is set to 6
_dc_ is set to 0.5
_aa_ is set to 0.2
_ad_ is set to 2048
_st_ is set to 0.5
yScale is set to 2
_ps_ is set to 4
_ar_ is set to 64
_as_ is set to 2048
_ds_ is set to 0.25
_pt_ is set to 0.1
_dr_ is set to 1
_pj_ is set to 0.9
_dp_ is set to 256
_dt_ is set to 0.25
_lr_ is set to 6
_dj_ is set to 0.5
_lw_ is set to 0.01
I ran another test with increased Radiance parameters and got the following output:
with the following parameters:
_av_ is set to 0
xScale is set to 6
_ab_ is set to 6
_dc_ is set to 0.75
_aa_ is set to 0.1
_ad_ is set to 4096
_st_ is set to 0.15
yScale is set to 6
_ps_ is set to 2
_ar_ is set to 128
_as_ is set to 4096
_ds_ is set to 0.05
_pt_ is set to 0.05
_dr_ is set to 3
_pj_ is set to 0.9
_dp_ is set to 512
_dt_ is set to 0.15
_lr_ is set to 8
_dj_ is set to 0.7
_lw_ is set to 0.005
Although the second blotching case is much better than the first, it is still very bad for hours when the sun is lower in the sky. The above images are rendered for a clear sky at 18:00 in Germany in a West-facing room.
Sorry for the long post! Can someone help? Kind regards, Örn

like structure for my energy efficiency design!
Until now I made a:
1. Following "Tessellated Folding" Tutorial from http://livecomponents-ny.com, I made a line, divide it, made circles and loft it.
2. Then I find Midpoints, move it, and make circles.
2. With help of "cull pattern and curve on surface by digitaltoolbox.info" , I made a def. for InterCrv (or Arcs) trough 1. and 2. Points.
That's all.
My questions are:
1. How can I make a branches form divided Loft surface points? Now I have 64 Paths with N=4... I need 8 Path (Surface dividing Number) and N=8 (also SRFs dividing Number)? I need this to close all circles from new 8 points, or make arcs, or whatever!
2. How to make a Surface form 1. and 2. Points?
If I Loft it, it makes a surface, but not exactly one!!!And I use GH 0.6; there is no "Surface from Edge" option. No flip Matrix neither!
3. What definition do I need for applying my worm on multiply curves? (I figurate out a definition for measuring a longest crv, if it helps). I think that problem is in "Sectional Geometry Controller" ( I took it from livecomponents-ny.com Tessellated Folding tutorial), it is just one line for one crv.
I would really appreciate some help on any of these questions! I am spending too much time spinning around ;(
Thanks a lot
Igor

me work I was doing on DP on GH. Here are my conclusions:
- As Rhino is not a constraint-based modeller, assembly design without plugins(RhinoWorks or else) is just not possible. So as long as constraints will not be present in rhino... no constraints, no AEC.
- The list management that GH offers is 10 000 time more efficient and user friendly. So a good point would be to link all the list management tools with GH-like interface. In fact, for all operations that are not concerning assembly (wireframe generation for example), GH is way ahead in terms of speed IF you're not dealing with geodesic curves or parallels on surface, eventually boolean operations, that are really a weakness of Rhino in terms of precision and stability. You can also do amazing synchronised attributes datatrees quite easily in GH, that you can then synchronise via Excel with a massive product based on Catia without problem. It can easily save you a few days of work.
- Rhino does not handle pre-computation of the geometry without loading effectively that geometry, so you will not be able today to work on a product bigger than 2Gb (maybe 3) in rhino in any way, even on rhino v5 64 with 16Gb of Ram. With the constraint stuff, I really think it is the second bad point about rhino.
- As Jon said, I think Rhino has to be understood as a sketch-oriented application for the construction (this is not pejorative, that's what I personnaly prefere) in a sense that its usefulness is to allow research of design possibilities, that you can of course link afterwards with what you want, but too much basic options are missing to rhino to be really viable for AEC. I personnaly don't want to see geometrical sets to appear in rhino, it is absolutely useless considering grasshopper evolution towards clusters for exemple.
After that, in purely technical terms I would say that:
1) Possible, partially already working --> Clusters (waiting for updates)/nested definitions + SQL for attributes management on several working definitions.
2) --> I think there are two ideas here: a) exporting some dead geometry in an arborescence of files (can be done quite easily with LocalCode but it will remain dead. You can also create a definition based on dead geometry and update this geometry using the geometry cache. Of course if this geometry is automatically exported via LocalCode from a precedent definition, when you update the upper definitions then the modification is repercuted on all your model. Personnaly I think it is best not to do it in rhino. b) otherwise, it is just synchronisation of public attributes attached to existing parts/products, as I described previously.
3) Geometry Cache. You can also auto-loop you file using loading/unloading input geometry of your desifnition with LocalCode and some VB.
But maybe I am wrong on some points of course.
Best,
Thibault.

rights to register the "mapwingis.ocx" file.Francesco, would you be patient just a tiny little bit, so that we could try something else? I would be grateful if you could.
1) Close Grasshopper and Rhino2) Run the Revo Uninstaller Pro and uninstall your MapWinGIS application along with removing all the leftovers from the registry.3) Restart your PC, and once it boots again, make sure that you are logged in as an Adminstrator.4) In your Start menu's search box type: "UAC", which will find your User Account Control Settings. Click on it, and a new window will open. Set the bar on the left to "Never notify".5) Turn off your Antivirus, which ever it is.6) Download the 64 bit version of v4.9.4.2 MapWinGIS.7) Right click on downloaded MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.4.2-x64.exe file, and choose "Properties". If there is "Unblock" button click on it, and then click on "OK". If there is no "Unblock" button, just click on "OK".8) Left double click on MapWinGIS-only-v4.9.4.2-x64.exe file and install it to "C:\dev\MapWinGIS" folder. Choose "Full installation" during installation process!9) In your Start menu's search box type: "CMD". Once the "Command prompt" appears do not left click on it! Instead right click on it, and choose "Run as Administrator".10) A command prompt window will open. Type the following command:
"your_regsvr32_folder_path\regsvr32.exe" /u /s c:\dev\mapwingis\mapwingis.ocx
If command does not result in an error message, then type this one afterwards:
"your_regsvr32_folder_path\regsvr32.exe" /s c:\dev\mapwingis\mapwingis.ocx
11) If no error appeared again, then open your Rhino and Grasshopper and check what Gismo_Gismo component prints from its "readMe!" output. If errors appeared, it would be nice if you could post their screenshots.…

The PC actually stops working because after a few seconds the simulation starts the fan inside the PC all of a sudden stops and for the next 5-10 mins I cannot do anything, even alt+ctrl+canc. After I wait for that time i get the followig error:

The thing is that if I raise the -aa parameter from 0.05 to 0.1 all works fine..
Is this only related to my PC then?? What should I do to solve this issue?
Thanks again for your help

Rhino 5 is also acceptable. Description An associative model is only as relevant as the information it seeks to manage. This workshop will engage the associative model by feeding it with real time and real world data captured through prefabricated sensor nodes known as the Ambient Sensor Kit (ASKit). The ASKit is an Open Hardware platform for personal data collection and sharing. The ASKit project is based on the premise that a personal understanding of the information around us is key to a sustainable and informed habitation of our environment. http://uask.it. Workshop participants will be working with Grasshopper, a generative, logic based design environment where participants will be able associate real world data to their models. Several other tools will be employed including Processing, Pachube, Google Earth, and gHowl (a set of custom components which extend the functionality of Grasshopper). This two day workshop will focus on a specific area in Berlin to understand, through data, the differences between the physical barriers and invisible forces which define certain urban functions. The participants will engage in: - environmental data collection - site surveying with open hardware/DIY electronics - data visualization and analysis - associative modeling with collected data Day 1: Demonstration of ASKit hardware platform for data collection and associative modeling. Data capture session in specific zones in Berlin. Data visualization and associative modeling in Grasshopper. Day 2: Focused Data Capture Session Directed projects applying associative modeling with collected data.…

Did you try the package Camilo posted earlier and did you get any input by what he set up for processing? (If not I can give you a short guide, but won't if not necessary, you need to install a few libaries along with processing and set your LPDs device number in the processing sketch.. ).
Anyway - he got an Input from what he did into GH via a UDP signal read by Firefly or Ghowl.
His only problem was, he had the following input when he turned a knob... for instance ... :
Knob 1, turn fully right position: (1;129)
Knob 2, turned to middle: (2; 64)
Kno 2, tuned to left: (3;1)
But when he turned button 2; the first input was "gone" since the second signal arrived via UDP; and so was his parametric value and therefor he couldn't use more than one button to assign different values to his parametric model..
Therefor in GH, the UDP Listener gets connected to split and fed into 2 Item lists.
The item lists get inserted into a c# script (maybe you can do this in GH differently, but I have no idea how....):
Now, you create a C# script in GH. It comes with 2 inputs, I named them "WAHL" for the number channel (which knob), and "wert" for their value. They get connected to the 2 Lists. Both inputs should be set to integers.
Then zoom in and add more outputs to the GH C#-component, as many as you have buttons, I named them after LPDs Numeration K1-K8. The code when you doubleclick it as such is, for 2 buttons:
if( WAHL == 1){ a = wert; } if( WAHL == 2){ b = wert; }
K1 = a; K2 = b;
// and under the following section I set the following
//<Custom additional code> int a = 1;int b = 1;
Just add more lines for more buttons.
That's it. It just assigns the input value depending on which button is pressed to a reference object in the #c script, so the value won't get lost.
----
Now my problem is still that through Camilos processing script I don't get any signal from the buttons in the first place, only from the knobs. With the midibus library I did get them though, but his script uses the proMidi library... something to ask around for in the processing forums... …
