of Space, 1984) and specified in (Turner A. , “Depthmap: A Program to Perform Visibility Graph Analysis, 2007), intuitively describe the difficulty of getting to other spaces from a certain space. In other words, the higher the entropy value, the more difficult it is to reach other spaces from that space and vice-versa. We compute the spatial entropy of the node as using the point depth set:
(11)
“The term is the maximum depth from vertex and is the frequency of point depth *d* from the vertex” (ibid). Technically, we compute it using the function below, which itself uses some outputs and by-products from previous calculations:
Algorithm 4: Entropy Computation
Given the graph (adjacency lists), Depths as List of List of integer, DepthMap as Dictionary of integer
Initialize Entropies as List(double)
For node as integer in range [0, |V|)
integer How_Many_of_D=0
double S_node=0
For depth as integer in range [1, Depths[node].Max()]
How_Many_of_D=DepthMap.Branch[(node,depth)].Count
double frequency= How_Many_of_D/|V|
S_node = S_node - frequency * Math.Log(frequency, 2)
Next
Entropies [node] = S_node

not working, then this can be a limitation of Honeybee, not the Terrain shading mask component.You can authenticate the mask shape by using the Udeuschle panorama generator (I used the following Trento coordinates: lat:46.066667, long:11.116667):
Sketchup has a similar plugin for Trynsys3D terrain shading masks.
I gave a reply on your upper questions in here, in component's release topic, so that it would be useful for others users too.
Actually I tried also to create the mask of the mountain using the topography I imported from Sketchup and the Ladybug Shading Mask II component. In this way the shading effect is well noticeable, but the process of creating the mask from such a complex geometry is very slow.
I can make a component which will automatically generate the topography of the local terrain, for a given latitude/longitude, but you will have to wait some time. I am currently doing some repairing around my house and cottage, and I do not have any spare time.Have in mind that depending on the configuration of you PC, you may not be able to have the terrain radius of up to 100 km. While Terrain Shading Mask component actually creates this terrain, it does not add it to the grasshopper document. In your case the terrain will be added to the grasshopper document which may crash Rhino depending on your PC configuration (for example it crashes Rhino on my PC).…

ours looks like). Anyway, you'll probably want to start with a Fader 1-way. I set mine up to go from 0 to 300 over the course of 6 seconds. Then I just wrote a very quick C# component to check the output of the Fader component and whether it met one of three conditions. Here's the code (very simple). Note: you'll need to use the input manager to remove one of the Y input and the output manager to add 2 more outputs (B & C).
if (x <= 100) { A = true; B = false; C = false; } if (x > 100 && x <= 200) { A = false; B = true; C = false; } if (x > 200) { A = false; B = false; C = true; }
Now, we know if at any given Fader value if it's in the first phase, second phase, or third phase. I output a boolean value which can also be considered a 0 or 1 if converted to an integer. So, if I multiply those boolean values by 255, then the one that is true will be 255, and the others will always be 0. Now, you should have your color scheme which switches depending on what phase its in. Simply connect that to the Uno Write component (with the Firefly Firmata sketch loaded on your board) and send the color values to the board as PWM values.
Some things I should note... You probably notice the Fader component looks a little different (it's missing the start input and I'm using the GH_Timer). I've decided (for good reason) to abandon the Form Timer I was using in a lot of the Firefly components in favor of the newly re-written GH_Timer component. So, in order to get the Fader component to update in the next version, you have to connect a Timer and turn it on (not that much different). But, it's significantly faster. Part of the reason is that the form timer just wasn't fast enough to get really smooth results... Now, it's blazing fast. I've incorporated this Timer scheme in a lot of the Firefly components and the results are roughly 10x faster. Since, you're only switching values (and not trying to quickly modulate the PWM values) the current version of Firefly should be just fine (just use the Start input to start the Fader component). But, when we release the next version (hopefully very soon), this may change a bit. Anyway, I hope that clarifies it a bit. I've attached a screenshot below. I didn't include the file because I've got a newer version of Firefly that would just crash on you (or not open properly)... but hopefully you can get how to do it.

The iterations(ULSiter plug) used for "opt cros sec": will give errors at 20 and 100 iterations but not at 10 or 200 for my particular model.
The starting cross section for assembling the model seems to also cause an error or make it go away. In other words, does the initial cross section fed into the assemble component influence how the optimize cross section works? As changing the initial cross section used, the warning that comes out of the optimize cross section disappears.
Also, in the Karamba example "projected Voronoi Gridshell" the model runs first through the "Analyze Theorem II" component and then that output going to the "optimize cross section". Under heavier loads, the "optimize cross section" will sometimes give error ("could not optimize cross sections") when plugged after the "Analyze Theorem II". If the "optimize cross section" is plugged directly from model assembly, it will often run okay. The normal forces(from "beam forces" component) will often be quite similar from the "Analyze Theorem II" and the "Optimize Cross Section" components in this scenario. I think the main question is: How crucial is it to run the "opt cros sec" component after the "analyze theorem II" component to account for element buckling?
Another question is: If the components are failing sporadically, does that mean that the model is quite close to buckling, or is it just a side-effect of the iterative algorithms. And, if a solution works at a fairly high number of iterations (200 or 300) or at a certain starting cross section, can we have confidence in that solution?
Please note that I have set up the assembly using plywood as a material with custom cross sections published using Karamba into a CSV. The cross sections have been listed from lightest to heaviest.
Thanks,

mething like an i7 with four cores would serve best. i am running 4x3.4 here. you should see 100% cpu utilization when solving.
2) model specifics: topology (= how many elements coming together in one joint), joint and support freedom, which both define the number of degrees of freedom of the model. the more DOF, the larger the stiffness-matrix to invert , the longer computation time. truss-bars are a LOT faster than beam elements.
3) loads and load cases: in general the more load cases, the longer the solving time. the more load vectors on single nodes (which it all comes down to), the longer too. but loads dont affect the computation time too much, especially since once the stiffness matrix has been inverted, most load cases can be applied to it i think.
eigenmodes take a LOT longer to compute than normal analysis, in certain karamba releases the automatic calculation of the first eigenmode (for debugging your geometry) was turned on inside the analysis module when something was wrong with the actual calculation to debug. this could turn out to be pretty annoying with big models so now it's turned off again.
with 'nonlinear', do you mean the large deformations iterative approximation component of karamba?
an average model with 10000 beams and three load cases takes ~400ms here, so take this times 20 for some non-linear iterations and you are there, roughly.

ent - you can check the tree structure with the Special > Param Viewer component and check the point list with the Point > Point List component.
Lets say you had a U10 and V10 count - 10 points in each direction = 100 points (make sure your frames calculate U-1 and V-1 (right click and type as an expression in the U&V inputs) as this will create the right number of points (not segments)).
You would then need to inform the mesh component what vertices comprise the mesh.
Secondly, you need to create set of faces that are included within the mesh. To do this, you would need to count up through the vertex index and assign the index to the faces. See below.
etc....
So now you need to develop a series to count specific patterns of integers to feed into the corresponding face vertex index inputs (A,B,C). You should generate the lists directly from the U & V slider inputs so as to update your count pattern when the subdivisions update.…
