Event: Metabolic Structures Workshop @ZUVE
ez Melgarejo. http://bioarchitecturestudio.com Costos: ALUMNOS, EXATEC y PROFESORES TEC. $2000.00 Pesos. ESTUDIANTES EXTERNOS: $3000.00 Pesos. Event: Parametric Modulations V1.0 by rat[LAB]EDUCATION
s are not required)   // Agenda Parametric Design, in the history of architecture, has defined many rules for current designers and for future practitioners to follow. One of the strongest aspects that are prominent from this style is ‘geometry’. Arguably, there is nothing new about geometry and aesthetics forming the most prominent aspect of any style or era. The language of any style, in the long history of architecture, is visually defined by geometry or shape, beyond the principles that define the core of the style. In the distinguishable style of parametric architecture, geometry has played and is continuing to play an integral role. And with this fairly young style, there are many strings of myths and false notions associated.   The workshop aims to provide a detailed insight to ‘parametric design’ and embedded logics behind it through a series of design explorations using Rhinoceros & Grasshopper platforms, along with understanding of data-driven fabrication strategies. An insight to Computational Design and its subsets of Parametric Design, Algorithmic Design, Generative Design and Evolutionary Design will be provided through presentations, technical sessions & studio work, with highlighting agenda of using data into Hands-on fabrication of a parametrically generated design. A strong focus will be made on ‘geometry’ and ‘matter’.   // Methodology Workshop has been structured to teach participants the use of Grasshopper® (Generative modelling plug-in for Rhinoceros) as a generative tool, and ways to integrate it with Hands-on Fabrication process. A strong agenda on ‘geometry’ and ‘matter’ will form the focus of the studio with design experimentation through computational & parametric techniques, culminating into a manually fabricated wall panel using understanding of data-driven design during the course of workshop.  …

Comment on: Topic 'Games for Grasshopper. Open Challenge!'
consider this proof-of-concept to be done. Anyway, you have been warned... ;) Requirements: Hoopsnake - game logic and rendering Firefly - keyboard controls FabTools (optional) - highscore rendering Boolean Data Recorder - enclosed to this post Instructions: Always disable timer when you're not playing (see Bug 1). Reactivate before playing. Double-click on hoopsnake and then click on "loop". If nothing happens, click on "stop" and "loop" again. Use the arrow-keys on to navigate to the food (red points). Known bugs and performance issues: I'm using Data Recorders to check keyboard inputs and to initiate the characteristic automatic movement. Those recorders are periodically reset when Hoopsnake starts and while it loops but while it's off, all of those four Data Recorders will gradually fill-up (1 False-value every 25ms). I assume this will eventually slow down or crash GH at some point. It never happened to me, though, just make sure to not let run like this overnight ;) Keyboard-taps are not recognized due to the Data Dam-hack you proposed in the other thread. You have to hold down the desired button for >25ms in order to have it recognized as a button-press. You can move diagonally (easily fixable). You can move backwards without hitting yourself as this movement isn't detected as a self-intersection. (can be fixed through temporarily disabling certain key-inputs. eg: when your moving upwards, keyboard "up" and "down" should be disabled.) Every point of movement is stored which reduce the game's performance the longer you play. (also easily fixable by culling the unneeded points). Best look/performance: Maximize top-view, activate grid, disable grid axis, zoom-out a bit Have fun nevertheless and be sure to post your highscore! Mine is 24! Update: 45! ;) Marc…

Topic: rebuilding paths
ure with the param viewer to build a matching search mask. seems to be working.   In the past when I solved my questions without any response I deleted the discussion. is that considered bad practice/ frustrating?   EDIT original question:   I’m having trouble rebuilding a path after flattening it. I understand the idea of rebuilding a list after it has been flattened but I can’t seem to get that principle to work in a path situation. I’m certain the solution will have something to do with culling index’s and using graft tree but I can’t seem to figure it out. This image should explain what I’m looking for.       I want the data stream on the right to look like the data stream on left. There is one caveat, this example is based on edge data from a box so everything clumps neatly in groups of four, my real world data is not based on a box so the srfs could have any number of sides. So using the grouping function in path mapper does not seem viable to me.   Thank you   Don   EDIT UPDATE:   I have discovered the replace branch component but it wasn't the amazingly simple solution I was hoping for.   so in the top replacement component: D a list of data I need restructured. R a list of branch coordinates I need it to be restructured too.   that setup results in an error obviously by the picture. GRR   in the bottom replacement component I have the same streams only with list item components before the inputs. so I'm sending the same data lists only one index at a time. that works exactly how i need/dreamed it should but I need/dreamed of the entire list being restructured.   any ideas on how to get replacement branch to work on the lists? or at least how to replace the entire list?    …
