ilion.
Then i sketched the outline curves in rhino with a few control points. The building is symetric so i only draw one side. But i'm not sure what is better for a voroni. a sharp or a soft surface? Or dose i need points?
So i have some questions:
1. how can i loft the curves correctly? My problem is that if i divide my curves for more control points, grasshopper automatically change my curve. thats ok but than i've the problem with a short curve, which fit bevor with the large one, but after the devision it can't connect.
So i tryed to duplicate the long curve and split it but with the shatter battery it dosen't work. It always cut the curve somewhere.
2. my next problem is, the curves in rhino should be my main construction, which is always visible. so i decided to offset the curves that i got a colum. but i don't know how to orient the offset curves in the xyz axis.
3. hopefully if i have the surfaces, how can i build a voroni which is offsetet, and has maybe some different thicknesses? :D
Would be really great if s.o. can help me. I tried a lot but not every thing is simple.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thx max

ing curve vertically, taken the end points of my now two curves and built a surface from four points
D) Used the Surface to define a plane to which I am applying 3D text
C) Projected the resulting text back to the original surface.
It seems to be working OK, however:
1) It currently only sets the plane in X/Y - Z is always taken as real world Z (so cant project to horizontal surfaces) *note I tried dividing the surface and fitting a plane but the plane was waaaay offset from the surface; and
2) Subject to the way the surface is oriented, the text can be upside down/back to front and I have to fiddle with rotating planes to make it right (so it wont work to bake text onto multiple planes at once). See below:
Top row are letters i baked manually (adjusting angles as i went). Bottom row is all applied at the same time.
I wanted to cast out for suggestions on how I might be able to rectify this so that Z+ is automatically taken as 'up' but text can be applied to horizontal surfaced to - and 'In/Out' somehow be defined to make it easier to set which angle the text should be legible from.
Grasshopper script is attached. Any suggestions are welcome, I will have a crack and update progress as I go.
Note: I have used FabTools for creating and baking the text in the attached .GH.
Thanks

h 'Cap Holes (Cap)' to close the ends. The cube is arbitrary too; I used 'BBox (Bounding Box)' for the capped, revSrf (might be a good idea to scale that a bit larger?). Then I rotated the revSrf 45 degrees just to make it more interesting, before 'SDiff'.
There is still no "grid" at that point. To create the grid, I used three edges of the 'BBox' corresponding to X, Y and Z directions and divided them using 'PFrames (Perpendicular Frames)'. The frames are planes used by 'Brep | Plane (Sec)' to intersect the 'SDiff' result.
You can hide the 'Preview' of 'SDiff' to leave only the intersection curves.
You can feed those intersection curves to 'Boundary' to get surfaces from many of them (the ones that are "Closed Planar"). Add 'Shift Paths', then 'Shift List' twice (1 and -1) with 'Wrap=False' to ignore the six outer surfaces.
A few simple tips for understanding GH code:
Enable/disable preview one component at a time to see what each one does.
Use a 'Panel' to see a text version of what is coming out of each component. This also helps to understand data/tree structures (essential to grasp 'Shift Paths').
Try the attached 'vuTreeList' tool I wrote to examine the geometry being generated along the way, by path and item.
Have fun!
P.S. I just realized I haven't really matched your desired result, which is a 3D grid of pipes... Will have to give that a little more thought.…

chandelier where the process of design is perceived within the wide network of new digital technologies.
How:
Two phases will guide the exploration of the small object starting from an empirical moment of design to a more pragmatic construction phase
.A Design The first phase of the workshop is focused on parametric detailing and designing. The aim of the workshop is on generating volumetric non-standard lightweight structures within the constrains of available CNC machinery and material. Automatic unrolling, smart labelling and nesting are some of the things the participant will learn in the context of mass-customization. Rhino in combination with the Grasshopper will be used as a basic platform to develop the designs and prepare the documents for CNC-manufacturing. The design chosen for production and 1:1 assembly will be developed by the participants of the workshop.
.B Construction The second phase will be characterized by the realization of the best design previously selected. A consolidated expertise of Italian manufacture will sustain the building loop of the chandelier, from the production of the final components till the assembly of them. A milling machine is supported not only by a wide variety of different bits but mostly by a strong team of Italian craftsmen.
When:
. From Saturday the 7th of July 2012 till Friday the 13th of July 2012
Where:
. Iablu, via Enrico Mattei 40, 41043 Casinalbo Modena, Italy

switch this talking off-line if you are interested to know the real reasons in depth.
What is the pro way? Well ... imagine objects (blobs et all) that are placed in 3d space by some per object policy whilst their "property" (bend, repulse) is user controlled on a per object basis. Then imagine variants of all that spaghetti yielded (the rays, that is) stored in parameters in order to do the obvious : take control of all your previous attempts (replace, remove, swap, reset etc etc).
Get a 10-- minute thingy (straight out of my head: NO checks OF ANY kind performed [bugs possible], just a grid that shoots rays and a single blob (a sphere) that does the job). Not even a decent random policy is applied in order to have some nice looking rays (not to mention their directions).
Now ... imagine any collection of breps distorting the ray chaos: i.e. a ray meets a blob > is distorted (or not) > then meets another > ... > blah, blah (plus some policy for killing rays heading to Sahara instead of Vienna - but that's elementary).
This requires at least 2 hours of coding to do it properly (+ the variants "management" C#).
But ... well ... it could be a good real-life case when Solaronix "sponge" type of U/V collectors could be available (rather soon) > I'll do it > the future > the glory > the cash > the polar bears.…
uts.
If I change the number of polygon sides to 8 the result looks like this:
Note that there are no missing rows with 8 sides. I've tried all the numbers from 3 to 12 and in general an even-number of sides results in no missing rows, but an odd number of sides has a missing row. And for # sides 10 - 12 there are 2 missing rows.
I tried all the options for the Offset object's Corners variable which is use to make the solid outside wall, but this has no effect. I also tried rotating the cutouts a little and a lot, changing their size, height, etc., but this had no effect either. So I'm stuck on how to eliminate the missing row of cutouts.
I realize this is a more or less cosmetic problem (no one will see the bottom of the printed part unless they pick it up), but I'd like to get it fixed before I publish the final design. The attached GH file has all the components used to make these images.

ry close to the screen (the model unit equivalent of a pixel deep). I am using the DrawForeground override to generate these objects...everything is fine, except that we'd also really like the users to be able to output high quality images directly from the viewport. Using the ViewPortCapture (either to file or clipboard) with higher scales can create some excellent images...but here's where we run into trouble.
The geometry that is created close to the screen through the Display Conduit tiles along with the resolution in the output image...so even though the rest of the model geometry scales up, the HUD geometry stays the same resolution but gets repeated in a grid (2x2 at 2 scale, 3x3 at 3 scale, etc.). What is interesting is any geometry created in the normal model space (say, a circle at the WorldXY) gets rendered correctly. I have also tried using the CalculateBoundingBox override, using bounding boxes for the objects drawn, but it doesn't seem to help.
I have picked up on a discussion over at the McNeel forums, but haven't gotten any guidance over there, and was curious if anyone here had any pointers.
thanks!…

Descriptions
Ladybug + Honeybee
Ladybug and Honeybee are open source environmental plugins for Grasshopper that help architects and engineers create an environmentally-conscious architectural design.
Ladybug imports standard EnergyPlus Weather files (.EPW) into Grasshopper and provides a variety of 3D interactive graphics to support the decision-making process during the initial stages of design. The plugin also provides further support for designers as they test their initial design options with radiation, sunlight-hour, and shading analyses. Integration with Grasshopper allows for an almost instantaneous feedback and, since the plugin runs within the design environment, the information and analyses are interactive.
Honeybee connects Grasshopper3D to EnergyPlus, Radiance, Daysim and OpenStudio for building energy and daylighting simulation. The Honeybee project intends to make many of the features of these simulation tools available in a parametric way. Just as users have made changes to geometry for years in Grasshopper, now users can parameterize system types, zoning schemes, schedules of operation, daylight sensor placement and controls - all of the “hardcore” simulation parameters that have never been exposed to parametric modeling tools.
