Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi There,

I am trying to form a schedule of accommodation for an upcoming architectural project using the Space syntax plugin. I am having trouble getting it to work properly, especially the forces pulling the points together. The error message I'm getting is:

1. Solution exception:Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I have tried breaking down the schedule of accommodation in to 2 parts but no luck. I have used the same grasshopper formula on a test schedule and it works a fine. Would the quantity of points really give me a problem or is there something I'm not doing right?

I have attached the rhino and grasshopper file if it helps anyone understand my predicament. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Marc

Hi Marc, could you please post issues on the main forum page: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/space-syntax

This has a few advantages, one of which is that you might get help from other users. As I cannot always promptly answer. I will have a look at your file later.

here is what you will get as a drawing if you set the repulsion strength coefficient as 0.2 and attraction strength coefficient as 0.15. As you can see, some circles are so big that wouldn't fit in the middle of their connections. Note that even if you don't get a neat graph drawing you can continue with graph analyses. A graph does not need to have a nice drawing to exist. For instance, you don't need to see the graph of your Facebook connections to believe in it

Pirouz,

Thank you so much for looking at this for me. I really appreciate your time!

It didnt work on my system exactly how you said but playing around with those figures i got it to work! For some reason i didnt consider changing those values so thank you for pointing it out. Yo can probably tell this is new to me!

Kind regards

Marc
