What is parametric design?

Lots of comments, plenty of opinions…

But as long as we’re concerned, parametric design is as simple as designing by parameters!

Yep, nothing so new, we've all done it before and are doing it right now.

Site analyses for example… think about it; it’s all about parameters and trying to design by them. Sun light, wind, noise, views… maybe circulation, placement, energy, pollution, costs and so on… they all and all are parameters from different types and kinds. The more we answer these parameters correctly, the closer we are to our goals indeed…

Now, if we've been doing it all the time, what’s so special about it?!

Exactly, Technology… That’s what makes us new and keeps us up to date.

What are these technologies? First of all… Computers that empower us with speed and accuracy, and after that, any new tool that can make architecture improve, physically or spatially

Well it seems cool, but… what’s the greatest and simplest problem with it?

Sure; Money! And that’s where we want to be different, that’s where high tech design, is combined with low tech construction…
